Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist
Seeing how LeBron moves at 40 and Luka at 25, sharing the floor together, is eye opening.

12 Seasons, games played: 70+ 3x, <60 4x.  One of those 70+ was last year.  All of the <60 were in the season prior to that (to be fair, the Lakers chipped the year he played 62).  He averages 61 games played for his career.  He averaged 54 games played as a Laker and 66 as a Pelican.

Its been a long time since he has had any business guarding guards.

If they stay healthy, the Lakers are going to be very difficult to beat. I’d pick them to win the title if I had to bet on it but not against the field.

Slow start for Luka, but he’s coming off a long injury break. Going to take some time to get used to the new team and pick up momentum. I’m glad they have him on minutes restriction

The passing between him and James is unreal. Best passing duo to ever play together I’m sure.

Hopefully this is a bit of a wakeup call for Luka and his idol LeBron can get him on his health routine.

thrashing the jazz ain't nothing to brag about but the Lakers look dominant there really, and luka isn't even 100%. I believe the Lakers are probably just as good as the healthy mavs.

Don't think they have enough defense on that team yet.  Hard to see anybody get by OKC at this point.

Once Luka gets a bit more healthy and you put him and James interchangeably as the starting 4 and 5. Yes who guards Jokic is a struggle but who guards those two giant versatile playmakers either?

I read this on Reddit and believe it. The theory is Pelinka saw how well small ball was working in recent games, realized he didn’t need Mark Williams, and instructed the medical staff to fail the deal.

To be fair to Luka, 40 year old Bron moves better than a lot of 25 year olds. Luka in the playoffs when he was not arguing with refs and getting back did play some pretty solid defense. No need to just totally rip him now.

moving to LA is certainly a good move for luka himself. Nico just did him (and the Lakers and everyone except the mavs and their fans) a big favor sending him there.

The challenge for Luka is once Bron moves out. Bron playing at a high level as he is doing currently makes him and Luka as perfect teammates for a smallball lineup.  Both can do everything on offense while being able to bully folks near the basket. This is as dangerous a front court as you will ever see. They have some holes but they will be tough to knock out in a 7 game series.

agree and I think the Lakers may be a dark horse this season.

I have never once seen the national media glaze Luka like they did tonight.

It was odd.

I am happy he is finally getting the recognition he deserves

Not a good performance from Luka tonight. But he is coming off a long layoff.

Some odd comments in this thread. Luka and Lebron at the 4 and 5? Da fuq. Lakers favorites to win it all? Yall smoking that good shit. Might be time to take off if this is going to become a delusional Lakers forum.

The Lakers passing sets them apart. I’ve never seen a team with three passers on the same level as Luka, LeBron, and AR. The coaching is excellent too. No one even had a tough shot tonight. So much space. It was like watching basketball in the 1980s. Will be interesting to see how they fair against a good defensive squad, but the unique passing skills on this team, that no one has ever seen or tried to defend before, may just give them an edge in the postseason.

I wonder if Maxi can do anything in the playoffs
They desperately need his defense at the end of games

Luka on what it means to have Dirk at his game: "It means a lot. Great friend. Great mentor, so it really means a lot that he was able to show up here. I'll go see him now, but it really means a lot.
