Yeah, they really are trying to create a drama. Trading all the future away for 40 year old LeBron and 30+ year old Davis didn't make much sense. I guess anyone reasonable can understand that situation changes a lot with a 25 year old. It will be interesting to observe though, if this will still be 100 % LeBron team or will they switch to Luka*. I never believed LeBron was honest by "giving" the team to AD. It was always LeBron #1 and AD #2. LeBron has the keys to help Lakers build the team in the summer. If he opts out and signs for (much) less money, the team could go below the first apron and execute SnT and perhaps also bring full MLE player (depending how much paycut LeBron takes). *: I think Luka wouldn't have a problem with Lakers being LeBron team and I think LeBron is going to allow to let Luka be Luka on offense, taking a bit more secondary role. Basically LeBron being the main voice of the team and Luka being the first violin on offense. I am also sure media will always try to create agendas and dramas. For example everytime Luka will take the final shot and miss, questioning why they didn't go to LeBron. One has to be really strong mentally for such things not to get in his head.

I totally believe he described the type of center, that is logical. This was what Pelinka said - he never said Luka suggested Williams specifically. Williams obviously fits the type. There was also a report, that Lakers asked Detroit for Duren, which would somehow be against that only one particular player was hunted. So I think this article is not totally exact or perhaps misleading in the part with Luka handpicking Williams. I don't know this, but I suspect you're in for a whole new level of incorrect aggregation and agent planted agenda in your media now that you'll be following the Lakers. I'd be interested to get your take on the difference in fan experience about a year into this.

Yes omahen, please stick around.
You are one of my favorite posters even though I'm a Luka hater at times. I think it's a more generational thing I dont like most of these modern superstars compared to the Dirk and Duncan era.

On one hand it is really difficult to read Luka hate posts (with all my heart I believe this opinions about his habits are too "black and white" and I think he did show many signs of changing, especially adjusting the way he plays to the roster around him over the years), but on the other hand this board is high in quality of discussion. A quick browse (didn't spend too much time looking) didn't result in me finding a similarly quality Lakers board and I have no intention in participating in reddit level conversations. I also fully understand this is the Mavs board so I can't really discuss the Lakers here, that are naturally interesting to me now. Really trying hard to stay out of "Luka bad, Luka good" discussions lately ![]()

Maybe we should add some threads for the expansion of what's appropriate. I have a feeling you won't be the only one interested in discussing Luka's journey in LA, at least for a little while.

I'll add to the comments that I like having your takes on subjects and I'd be interested in how you feel about everything as the remaining season progresses. FWIW, I think Luka HAS to be #1 to be effective, or at least that's my observation from watching him these last 6 years. With the ball, he can be a magician, making impossible passes and killer shots. But he's never been much for movement when playing off ball, so his effectiveness comes with the documented high usage rate. It will be interesting to see what LA does to change how he's used when LBJ is on court.

The Charlotte Hornets have been in contact with the NBA as they explore options to dispute the Los Angeles Lakers' failed physical assessment of Mark Williams, sources tell ESPN. The Williams/Dalton Knecht trade was nixed Saturday, and now Hornets weigh avenues to challenge.

The Hornets have officially filed a motion with the league office to dispute the Lakers’ failed physical for Mark Williams, per @ShamsCharania . Charlotte believes Williams is fully healthy, and they were transparent with the Lakers throughout negotiations before it was accepted

But the report from Dave Mcmenamin that suggested the Lakers nixed the trade because they got cold feet over the amount they were sending out might give the league pause.

League just announced their decision. Lakers will need to send their 29 first that was suppose to go to Dallas to satisfy the Hornets.

so what would be sent to Dallas as a compensation? oh sorry, Dallas won't ever be unsatisfied as long as Nico is their GM. used to think Grizzlies were Lakers reserve team and that's horribly wrong. the Pau Gasol trade ain't nothing tbh.

CHA wants the trade to be enforced, as is, which would mean it would get un-rescinded. |
