The Memphis Grizzlies are trading Marcus Smart and a 2025 first-round pick to the Washington Wizards in a multi-team trade that sends two second-round picks to Memphis, sources tell ESPN. Memphis creates roster flexibility with the move.

Painful end to what passes for the Marcus Smart era in Memphis. Traded two firsts to get him, one to get off of him. Also, yeah the Grizz have too many rotation guys already, but LaRavia was solid this season. Makes a lot of nitty-gritty winning plays. Should make the Kings rotation.

This trade has everything in it. Not sure if Smart can still play, but the picture on this tweet doesn't look great.

Also some ghosts of former lottery busts. Watch Memphis get good play out of Bagley. Man, was I wrong about him.

Memphis always finds players to develop. They have great coaching and scouting. It's why they're good.

Not sure I agree they are so great. Ja was a #2 pick, JJJ was a #4, if I remember correctly. It is expected to get good players with such picks. Besides them the only real finding was Bane (#30). Aldama (#30) could be good. Zaiaire Williams (#10) was a fail, Jake LaRavia (#19) was a fail (just traded to Sacramento), Roddy (#19) was a fail. Clarke (#21) is a back-up. Jevon Carter (#32) is no longer with them. Zach Edey (#9) could turn out into a solid player, perhaps. 3 current second rounders (Williams, Jackson and Wells) could turn out solid players.
While they did had some nice hits, they also had a lot of chances to try and they also had a lot of misses.
