AROUND the NBA:
Brandon Ingram and Troy Murphy out for the Pelicans in their game against Cleveland. Missi has a shoulder issue. What in the world is going on with the Pelicans?

Well, my guess is that tanking is what will be going on pretty soon. I feel pretty bad for their fans, and for whomever they manage to draft with their incoming higher-than-expected pick.

I have been increasingly hard on Luka in recent months and years, but that's because he's great. Thank goodness he's not Zion, though.

Mavs really got lucky with Kyrie considering the busts that all the other old folks like PG13, Lillard, Beal and KD turned out to be. Only naming KD, cause he can´t stay healthy due to age and once that happens Phoenix nose-dives right back into play-in territory.

Trading for guys over 30 is a complete recipe for disaster in the NBA today. You only get guys that other teams don´t want anymore and you have to give up huge assets. Compare that to Houston signing Brooks and FVV. Not the fancy names, but can still go and bust their asses every night.

Utah is really shameless this year. Losing 2nd half to the Wemby-less Spurs by 24 points. I can´t believe we lost to them.

Wow, Timberwolves' bench is so thin. 7-8 player rotation in November with only Conley out, losing to the Raptors.

I though the same thing. They did a 2 for 1 trade (of imho equal talent), but somehow they lost all their depth.

CP3 with Houston and Phonix was success, same with Holiday for Milwakee and Boston. Both were 30+ when they were traded. Jimmy Butler was 30 when he played his first game for Miami.

Lillard is playing well for the Bucks, but they need a healthy Middleton and Giannis. If the trio is healthy, they are good enough to compete with anyone in the East, assuming that Doc doesn't hinder them.

Beal could have been half decade younger, abd would still be a bad trade.
He is an undersized scoring guard who can put up numbers on a bad team. Why would you want that to play with Booker and KD. This had nothing with age, but awful construction of the team.

Let's see if Houston achieve anything before setting them as an example.

Wolves haven't won in Toronto since 2004. They've had better teams than this one. So, there's that.

Joel Embiid has reportedly been frustrated at times with how he’s been used on the basketball court, per @TheAthletic

“According to the team and league sources, Maxey highlighted the need for Embiid to set a better example as a leader on a day-to-day basis while emphasizing the importance of timeliness. The message, in essence, was that everything within their program starts with the big man and that he simply must be better when it comes to his leadership. Embiid, league and team sources say, heard the message while also expressing a lack of clarity and occasional frustration about how he is being used on the court.”

Quote:Joel Embiid sounded off after details from the 76ers’ lengthy team meeting Monday night — including that teammate Tyrese Maxey called out the 2023 NBA Most Valuable Player for tardiness — surfaced through multiple reports citing anonymous sources, saying “whoever leaked that is a real piece of [expletive].”

“We talked about a lot of things [during the meeting],” Embiid said Wednesday after the Sixers’ 117-111 loss to the Grizzlies. “I don’t want to get into the details, but that whole thing [with Maxey] probably took 30 seconds. But then again, it’s Joel Embiid, so we’ve got to make everything blown out of proportion.

“It’s whatever. I’ll take it all. I’m the reason for everything, so I’ll take the blame for everything.”

Wut? Shouldn't it be the Mavs who are shameless for losing to this Jazz team?

Trying to ruin our tank... PFT! Like the fox with sour grapes, or the dog in the manger. Tongue

I still can't believe we won that game, lol.

I'd be annoyed at Randle in that situation. Gobert had a mismatch and Randle should have got him the ball instead of holding on to it for so long because Randle wanted to go bonehead solo. I didn't watch the game though, so probably need more context... like what happened on the plays before this one.

Let's hope the Timberwolves crash and burn... cause the Jazz own their pick... and also cause if they continue to sukk hard enough, then Ant might ask out and join the Mavs. Big Grin
