AROUND the NBA: Bam Signs 3yr/166m Max Extension| KP To Miss Start of Next Season
We should draft Bronny and have LeBron play our 5 the next few years. He can play the 4 when Lively is in.

So much for the 100 million dollar offer. I'm glad he stayed at UConn.

Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn)
BREAKING: Connecticut’s Dan Hurley has turned down the Los Angeles Lakers’ six-year, $70 million offer and will return to chase a third straight national title, sources tell ESPN. LA would’ve made him one of NBA’s six highest paid coaches.

Turns out the LA reporter who said 2 days ago Hurley wasn't being considered anymore was right!

Seems like a lowball offer to me considering that it's the Lakers and trying to get the hottest coach in college basketball. They probably would have needed to make him the highest paid coach in the NBA to get him to leave UConn.

Yeah, that offer was pretty low all things considering. Spoe, Kerr, and Pop got more than that.

RIP Jerry West. I was too young ever to see him play in his day. I only know him from his days as an executive. For me, he was the best person to listen to talk about prospects. Just awesome. You would have never have guessed he was one of the best players ever when he would discuss prospects. None of the "back in my day" analysis.

As a player, he unfortunately played during the Boston dynasty. Despite playing in 9 finals, he only won one title as a player. It is something that beat him down for most of his life. He made up for it as an executive. He is probably the best GM in league history (although a few others may have a strong case). He won 8 titles as an executive. Most as the lead guy but he also helped out with the Warriors.

Just an all time great

Not only was West a pillar of the NBA, so much so that he is the literal logo, but he left a legacy of building some of the most dominant teams of all time.

A winner through and through. RIP Mr. West.

Probably did his Westbrook dance yelling: Don´t you know who I am. Then claimed to be an NBA player and got written up for false reporting.

Something to keep our eye on, now that JJ Redick as Lakers Head Coach is official...I've seen several times in several places that Jared Dudley is on his short list of assistant targets. He's obviously a well-respected name within league circles, so it kind of seems like the Mavs are at yet another Jamal Mosely sort of crossroads. Should the Mavs offer him one of those front bench jobs in an effort to keep him here? I think it would be kind of deflating, optics wise, to lose him, but I admit I don't have any idea of what he's actually qualified to do.

I'm also worried about Dudley jumping ship, but I don't think it will be for another assistant job. He is already front of bench on the Mavs. under Kidd, he's probably 3rd in command behind Sweeney in terms of guys he listens to.

If Dudley is going to leave its going to be for a head coaching position, not to latch himself to whatever is going on in LA right now.

Well, then he's higher in the pecking order than I realized (that's embarrassing, sorry). But, wouldn't that make it worse if he DID jump ship for the Lakers?

Was he in charge of defense, then, I assume? I feel like Sweeney is the offensive coach, right?

Sweeney coaches the defense. I honestly don't know what Dudley's role is.

If it's not from Woj or Shams, it's not legit. The only thing I've heard on the coaching front, is JVG is hired to be Ty Lou's top assistant on the Clipps. I'll wait...

It might be legit, but I've seen it in more than one place, FWIW.

[Wojnarowski] ESPN Sources: After one season, the Detroit Pistons have dismissed coach Monty Williams — who leaves with five years and $65M-plus left on his deal. New President Trajan Langdon will move to make his own coaching hire now.
