I don't know what's going on with my hometown team. Detroit is a proud franchise rich in legacy and history in the NBA with 3 titles. They started out the season 3-1 I believe, then they crashed and burned. I know they have too many young players, and not enough vets, and key players they were counting on are still injured. Plus, they lead the league in turnovers and don't have enough scorers. That's part of the reason for losing 15 straight. Maybe Troy Weaver overplayed his hand with all his trade moves, and their owner Tom Gores, is one of the worst in the NBA. He's not around the team that much and hasn't issued any public statement on the team's losing to the fans. I bet Monty wishes he stayed away at times, but that bag he got was life changing.

We can forget the Jonathan Isaac discussions...
Thinking Basketball podcast from today basically saying they have no clue why the guy isnt playing more minutes. I posted the other day I watched like 2 minutes of an Orlando game because Issac was in...I watched him specifically...he moved exceptionally well when I was watching. Thinking Basketball seems to confirm this. The podcast is saying the same thing...he can guard anyone, anywhere on the floor and is a defensive monster when on the court.
So...forget the Isaac talk. I assume they are just bringing him along slowly after injury and have no plans to move him.

Going back to the S.Bey vs J.Green discussion a couple of posters pointed out that the Pistons have no real system in place. Just giving young players minutes and the freedom to chuck away isn't enough. Can lead to bad habits. Bey wasn't the next PG/Kawhi and asking him to create for himself wasn't doing him any favors. Same for other prospects. Especially guards and wings. Terrible shot selection combined with high turnover numbers because players are doing too much.
This year it is Cunningham. They are all in on the idea that he can play a Doncic-like role. Not willing to admit that his handles and shot creation aren't good enough for a player with a usage in the Harden/Luka/Westbrook range.
On top of that they have a number of bench guys that are playing for their own numbers. Fighting for another contract in the league (Burks, Sasser, Knox). No matter what happens when they are on the floor they are going to look for their own shot. A little bit like Hardy.
Taking tanking too far. Always thought that it would be Presti/OKC that ends up in a situation like this but they have more talent and only tanked for two seasons.

I think there is a huge cost to tanking that a lot of folks ignore. I think if you tank more than a year or two, you start instilling a losing culture that gets harder and harder to turn around.

I think most understand this. In my experience, those who don’t are few, but very, very loud and confident with their opinions.

Cause you bring this BS up over and over and you have no evidence to back it up. Teams are bad or good based on the ownership and the people that run the franchise. The Sixers blew up a 2nd round team, went through five years of the process and STILL were back in the 2nd round before the winning culture Mavs (starting from being an NBA champion) won a first round series again. The Thunder tanked for 2-3 years. Now they are better than us. They are younger than us. They have a better GM than us. They have a better coach than us. They have five million draft picks coming up. So? How they not 3-15 after tanking for three years. Oh, cause they have a good GM, good coach and good owner that sets the standard. All this dumb shit about winning culture. You´d think we´d have won five championships because of our amazing winning culture approach. You think the Heat culture would work with Cuban instead of Riley and Kidd instead of Spoelstra.
Here are the play-off series teams won, since the Mavs won the Championship in 2011.
Warriors 24
Heat 20
Celtics 14
Cavs 13
Spurs 12
Raptors 9
Bucks 8
Nuggets 8
Thunder 8
Lakers 7
Rockets 7
76ers 6
Clippers 6
Hawks 5
Suns 5
Grizzlies 4
Pacers 4
Blazers 4
Jazz 3
Wizards 3
Knicks 2
Bulls 2
Nets 2
Mavs 2
Pelicans 1
Wolves 0
Pistons 0
Magic 0
Hornets 0
Kings 0
So we are tied 21st.
The only reason we have won two play-off series is that the Suns, Kings, Grizzlies and Hawks didn´t pick Doncic. Otherwise we´d just be at 0.
So the only reason the Mavs have won a play-off series in the last 12 years is the result of a botched tank, not the winning culture BS you peddle.

So many things with this post.
First of all, I really don't think this is a drum I beat all that regularly. It generally only comes up in response to you, who wants to tank every single year. You wanted to tank most of the WCF season. If teams used your criteria to tank, 2/3 of the league would be tanking. What a great product that would be.
Second, this teams record since 2011 is mostly about FO malpractice. No reason to think tanking is going to make that big of a difference when your FO is incompetent.
Third, asking a healthy Luka to actively tank early in the season seems like the best way to push him out of here. I'm a little surprised you haven't chimed in on the trade Luka thread. We could get tons of assets and tank our asses off. Your wet dream.

Hardly worth talking to you, when you can´t detect an obvious joke. Just enjoy the ride with Luka and Lively, that you got with tanking. Unfortunately four minutes of Captain Culture Dwight Powell were enough to turn a win into a loss.

Pacers advance to Vegas in the knockout tournament beating the Celtics 122-112. Pacers are a fun watch. Haliburton is the real deal, with his first triple double, 26 pts, 10 rebs, 13 assts.

Lakers vs Suns was a great game that went to the wire. Lakers advance to the semi's with a 106-103 win. LeBron is amazing the way he's playing just weeks before he turns 39. Lakers are 5-0 in tournament play. They meet the Pelicans next.

Rick Carlisle has the Pacers playing like Doug Moe's Denver Nuggets teams of the mid to late 80's. Pacers average 128 ppg.
