With the roster they have now, plus pick 10 and Kyrie at Luka's salary, they would only be able to offer part of the big MLE. With a 15-man roster and some cushion for possible emergencies during the year (because the hard cap has no flexibility, even if there are injuries), it's probably only 1/2 to 2/3 of the MLE. And no BAE, of course.
I will note that if don't try to stay under Apron 1, the choices change.
Between Apron 1 and 2, they don't get the big MLE that way either, but the 5M one instead, and they have to limit trades where they basically don't take back more than they send out. But the plus is that they might have money for DP, and money to help Wood in a snt (if that becomes available), which might offer a decent player in return, who knows.
Spotrac has it just working out with Kyrie at 40 Mio.
You'd be at 10 players and 160 Mio than. I'd rather work with that than waiving 17 Mio.
What am I missing?

" You'd be at 10 players and 160 M ... What am I missing"
The Apron 1 hard cap (which you must stay under when using the big MLE) will be right about 170M.
10 existing players (which includes Pick 10, I trust) total 154M. But leaving one slot for the MLE use, the 4 other slots, paid the very minimum, each cost $2M in apron accounting, so you are at 162M. You can't spend right up to the hard cap because of what might happen injury-wise.
So that's maybe 6-6.5-7M you can use, and aggressive roster trickery over the entire season (if you have the expert) might free another 1M maybe. Maybe.

I think he's referring to this. Apparently Zion has been sleeping around. If you click on her account you can see all the tweets where she absolutely goes off on Zion.

Hollinger had an interesting article on the Athletic today about the Heat's undrafted players. He called the Heat Vultures. Not only were they undrafted, but 4 of the 5 were on different G league rosters prior to the Heat picking them up. One of my small annoyances with the Mavs is their apparent apathy to their G League roster and even their two way slots. It seems like such a cheap way to develop talent. Most will never play in the NBA but it doesn't mean you shouldn't uncover every rock.
They better take is serious because if they get their wish they will have at least two really highly paid players for the foreseeable future. Finding a few glue guys through the cracks could be the difference between this team always missing a few guys vs. them having a championship contender.

How about that 3 PG lineup with CP3/Kyrie/Luka?

Good post. But I don't have any confidence whatsoever in Dallas doing anything like Miami. Cuban has owned the team forever it seems and has one title to show for it. They really know how to find and develop players and it starts with Mickey Arison, Pat Riley, and Eric Spoelstra three of the best ever to do it.

Well we hired that guy away from Brooklyn. The Dinwiddie whisperer. Curious to see what he uncovers for this coming season and going forth.
Matt Riccardi is the scouting directors name. He will have been here a year by the end of summer.

We’ll see if AJ Lawson shows any signs of being a keeper. Would be a great harbinger if he is a hit.

Me either. Last year was so weird that it appears they did everything wrong. What was so weird is the appeared to do most things right the year before with a few questionable moves. For instance, their G league team had Eugene who looked like the exact prototype you look for as an undrafted guy. The other two way guy looked like a mistake from the start, but that is what happens to most of them. They also picked up two undrafted guys in Feron Hunt and Carlik Jones. Obviously long shots, but they lost Hunt to a two way and he has bounced around...and again a good gamble due to his age and athleticism. Jones will probably never be an long term NBA player but has turned into a really good G-league player. I guess you can say Wright is a solid gamble. I also think Lawson is a good gamble. So we will see there.
But, this thing will not work out unless they find/develop some grinders who are overlooked. The more good decisions you make, the more likelihood you have one who surprises you and turns into a core player. They won't all be hits, but the more chances you give yourself and the more smart decisions, the much more likely you are to find them.

Wonder how the Nuggets feel about MPJs contract right now. Almost single-handedly losing them games. Cannot make a shot on offense and is absolultely lost on defense. Almost feels like he doesn´t know the scheme.

Almost assuredly he gets traded in a year or 2
Especially with that Murray extension coming

Seems like he had a pretty good season. 17 points per game, almost 42% on threes. 62 games played.
Playoffs drop off some, but a big jump in rebounds from 5.5 to 8.2 per game.
It was definitely an overpay, but I'm sure the Nugs felt they were over a barrel. Maybe a bit like Ayton? John Collins?
Under the new CBA, it's likely we'll see fewer deals like his.

30/20/10 game is ludicrous.
He's making a case for top 5 center of all time right now.

Murray with 34/10/10. First time in history that teammates have a 30pts triple double in the finals. Jokic with the first 30/20/10 in finals history (tracking doesn´t go back to Wilt´s prime so it probably happened before).

Christian Braun a rookie was big off the bench for the Nuggets with 15 pts.
