Historically I look to David Lee, Antoine Walker, OJ Mayo, Ron Mercer, and Monta Ellis. The perfect example in today's game is Andre Drummond. He can get you 12/14 as a starter, but you will lose the game.
Drummond is the empty stats, King. One of the great rebounders in league history, need to find out how many 20 rebound games he lost.

He's 44-44 all time according to this website. Though most of his 20 rebound games came with those horrid Piston teams.

As awful as the Mavs season was and how brutal it was watching every game this year, I think I would pick the Mavs season over the clippers season. This could change if the Mavs lose their pick or obviously if the clippers get out of round 1. But being a clippers fan this year was really tough.

I'm by no means trying to defend the 22/23 Mav's. But, I think we have to recognize some really important positive things happened this season.
We used two future second round picks to get Jaden Hardy. Most agree he should have gone in the lottery. Post all-star he scored 13 a game in 20 minutes. His TS% was .587 (outrageous for a rookie guard) and he hit .459% of his 3's.
Josh Green took the step many hoped the 22 year old would eventually take. He plays good D, is a positive on the court and he and Hardy are actually our best 3 point shooters.
We traded for our second star.
The cupboard is pretty bare outside of that and that is certainly a problem. The mistakes and missteps are pretty well documented around here. But, there are positives. Maybe the biggest positive is the team has the same sour taste in its collective mouth that we all have. Seems like that would make it much more likely that something actually gets done than if we had somehow lost a close series in the first round. It is nearly impossible to justify what we just watched and somehow think we just need tweaks to get over the hump.

Not to pick one part in your post, but you mentioned traded for our third star. Do you view a resigned Kyrie as a third star?

Getting in someone's face can be a huge distraction. Luka likes to get in the ref's faces. Better to focus on the game.

Excellent perspective on the silver lining positive perspective of this painful year. I saw some others as the season ran down but most importantly they had the need to improve defense rammed down their throats and the team did seem to recognize that and even tried with only spotty success to change that. As you said Dan, this does set them up for success much better than the Western Conference Finals appearance with a team that also had some of these flaws.
Help to some degree should be on the way which gives hope. We will have to wait and see. I believe Kyrie will be here at probably too much money but I also think he will help other returning players like Maxi and Luka contribute to better defense. I hope on the court Kyrie becomes a great leader with Luka.

Paul "B Ball Paul" Reed was a great find by the Sixers. He's just the type of high energy, hustle guy every team needs. He's filling in nicely for Embiid with 15 boards as they try to send the Nets home in a sweep. I wonder what his contract situation is?

It certainly seems easier to find defensive studs than superstar offensive players.

We'll see...I don't know what to expect from this organization anymore.

Westbrook and Durant having a shootout. Yes I said Westbrook. Keeping the Clippers in the game..He's a efficient 16-26 fg, 3-5 in 3's for 35 pts late in the 4th. Phx up 109-96 2 mins left. KD has 32 and Book 27 and CP hitting big shots late. Phoenix can go up 3-1 with the win.

Bucks without Giannis in trouble. Cannot stop Butler and to make things worse even the most disappointing Heat vets are remembering that they used to be quality NBA players. Duncan Robinson is automatic from 3. Lowry looks like his Toronto self. Love playing defense that hasn´t been seen since the Cavs won it all.
