What a terrible place Cuban has put this franchise, where they get that transcendent star, then the ongoing bad GM-ing makes it so hard to put a strong team around him.
Cuban's cheapness in refusing for so many years to get expert front office GM-ing is a killer. And yet there are those that say Powell should get close to $10M per year and cheered Maxi’s extension.
THJ’s deal is a bargain because it declines.

Really? Outside Cuban and his FO, I find it hard to believe that people would hold such a view.
But the issue is the big picture -- big total payroll, but not a big load of talent. Needs everywhere, but very iffy options to get it because you're already overloaded on payroll. Cap hell, they used to call it.

I think Powell is worth some number. That's true. But one much smaller.
He's a backup-caliber C (who are a dime a dozen) and useful in several ways, but very limited in what he offers. At C, Mavs need some combo of rebounding, shooting 3s, defending the middle and being a presence who deters, and DP offers none of that.
Good guy. Plus in community stuff. Good chemistry. But so overpaid. Cuban loves to give him outrageous deals (and then, of course, no money left to fill holes).
I'm hopeful it won't happen again, but do I trust Cuban to only offer him what he's worth? No.

Draymond suspended for game 3.

There were reports he was going to Phoenix before they decided to go after Durant. Not sure how it would have worked out but Crowder and A 23 first round pick was included. 3 team trade?
Now with Kyrie, I just don’t see how you can make any more significant additions to the roster that aren’t good defenders.

Draymond Green suspended for game 3. Sabonis has a sternum contusion and may be out for game 3. If that's the case, the suspension is justified. Your reputation precedes you Day-Day.

I thought he was the Clips 2nd best player tonight by a mile. He's playing winning basketball which is something I never thought he was capable of.

dray may be known a bad boy around the leauge but i think in this specific case he is innocent as a baby. sabonis is a good player of course, but he is a cunt. dude fell on the ground for no reason and grabbed draymond's legs, which the refs turned blind eyes to. he also tried to tackle klay at the scene as well but failed.

I'm not sure I'd call someone who double-jumped on a fallen player's chest as "innocent as a baby." Regardless of Sabonis grabbing him, there are a number of ways to deal with it that aren't so absurdly violent. Sometimes a rep is well-deserved.

The answer to my question is lose him for nothing potentially because GS doesn't have one of the paths to keeping him that they had before the new CBA. Other tax paying teams can offer the TP MLE while GS is limited to a 20% raise. The difference is about $1.1mm which might matter to someone who hasn't made a ton of money in his career so far. By definition, a limitation that didn't exist last season and does now is a new CBA issue.

Draymond is the actual cancer that the media thinks Kyrie is. I hope the Mavs stay far away.

Kyrie issue isn´t really about basketball. It´s the off court stuff. Draymond issue is about on court behaviour and locker room incidents. Pick your poison.

Draymond has 4 rings to show and it is very obvious that Curry, Thompson, Kerr and whole GSW franchise value his contributions extremely highly.

Lillard seems to really be supporting Draymond. Wonder if that’s his next destination.

Players understand better than fans that preventing a sound landing is how so many injuries occur. That's why Bruce Bowen was so hated. I have to say that I too thought Draymond was ridiculously in the wrong, but I'm 5'9" and have never played professional sports. I don't think the league could look the other way, but I think players are happy that Sabonis will think twice about again wrapping up someone's legs as they're landing.

I´m still absolutely amazed about the NBA´s stance on physical on-court violence and the reaction by the media, too. In other sports you get a minimum of 4-8 weeks/games for such behaviour. Sabonis might miss game 3 and more. It´s basically an open invitation to harm your opponent for the benefit of winning.
American Football has gone the opposite direction to protect QBs/instrumental players from such tactics and basketball fans are somewhat outraged. Especially in light of his history that should have been a full series ban. End of story.
I´m still pissed at Bynum trying to literally cripple JJ Barea. Chances he would get hurt were probably far greater than > 50%, since Bynum put Gerald Wallace into the ER with a collpased lung with the same move earlier in the season. Our championship never happens and Bynum gets a three regular games suspension for assault. Wow thanks NBA on coming down hard on him.
Seriously hope the Kings finish them and our moron doesn´t go after Draymond in the summer.
