No reason not to send an end of the bench goon to try and take out the best player in a playoff series. Like in hockey where you can fight and just miss 5 minutes or whatever it is. Albeit that one its at least a fair fight. It's likely because of the context of Wagner initiating it, although I think a longer suspension would still be warranted just because of how dangerous blows to the back of the head are.
Bynum should have been suspended for way more than 5 games though, that was just one of the cheapest shots in a game ever and could have greatly affected the rest of the playoffs.

Hawks look broken as a team.
Can you imagine, what Young would have been like in Dallas, when he´s this annoying with a great team around him.
If I can get two firsts and three decent players I´m shipping Young out. I´d call the Magic. They need a PG, a ticket-seller and they have two good to great 1st round picks.

Is this Fournier/Toppin for Hield? Too bad they've done the THJ thing already. I like Toppin and Fournier only has one guaranteed year left instead of THJ's two.

I kind of doubt it.
I'm sure you've done some math and aren't just picking Hield's name out of a hat, but I feel like he's not enough to get them to come off of Toppin...
...how far off is the math if you think Turner instead of Hield?

Won't happen, but for the record I'd be all over Toppin if it were possible. He's one of those 4's we've been discussing, and while I'm not sure he's ever truly going to be a good player, he certainly has a chance to be and would change the athletic profile of the entire team overnight. Definitely a good chance at a "just before he breaks out" type.

Not off at all. Easy match Turner for Fournier/Toppin. However, it leaves NY with Turner, Hartenstein and Mitchell which doesn't really makes sense. Hartenstein/Toppin for Turner? Yes, it works financially. Almost anything works if Indy is getting more money. Recall, they are way under the cap. So, you could actually send Fournier with Hartenstein and Toppin and throw in Cam Reddish for good measure. Only limit is roster spots.
LOVE Hartenstein and Toppin joining the young Indy core. If it means eating a year of Fournier, small price to pay IMHO.

Thanks for the info - had totally forgotten about IND's cap space.
I have no idea how Thibs/NY front office thinks, but I do know that Mitchell has been a disappointment to my Knicks fan friends. I wouldn't consider him to be untouchable in a deal like this, though he does have some overlap (from Carlisle's POV) with Toppin.
Toppin, Hartenstein, Mitchell and even Fournier all seem like Carlisle types in various ways, don't they?

I wouldn't think Turner is on the way out (they've reportedly been talking extension), or Hield either. I think the Pacers are more likely to be working around the edges from their emerging core.
How about a simple Nesmith-Toppin swap?

Honestly ATL has been going through quite a bit of turmoil the last year. Their owner left his son in charge and since then it's been turbulent at best.

This same week they've let go 3 other executives. Reading ATL fan boards, they said their GM promoted his college roommate as a replacement and their head coach promoted his son to his staff.
So while I don't think Young is innocent, as he really has been a malcontent, ATL's FO is crumbling.

This year is starting to feel like the end of an era. Steph, Lebron, CP3, KD are on their last runs. Most of the other all stars from that era are non-factors or out of the league. There’s only 16 players in the league over age 34 and half of them shouldn’t be playing anymore. There’s a real youth movement happening and the league is so deep and talented. It makes me wonder what the best team building strategy would be going forward
