If their goal trully is to just tank for Wembanyana, I guess they will find some cheap short term FA and sell rest of cap space. This trade with Atlanta (if true) could indicate that.
Yeah they're definitely tanking for Wembanyama. The latest reports say they prefer a package of draft picks over getting John Collins back. That's 100% a tank move. So yeah, they'll probably just start whoever.

We just paid a whole lot of money to a guy that went 9-29 (31%) on FG and 3-20 (15%) 3-pt% in both our win or go home elimination games last couple of playoffs. SMH

Ayton (S&T), Bridges, picks for KD?
Probably, yeah.
That Flex dude on twitter has been hinting since right after the Dallas series that KD wanted to play in PHX next season.

Sounds like a good deal for both teams. Nets rebuild on the fly, Phoenix makes the ultimate win now move

That's strange, in the past KD has wanted to play for the team that won the series.

Collins and Wood are redundant in my opinion. Both are efficient scorers at the rim and behind the arc at pretty good volume who can make athletic plays and rebound but struggle a bit on defense unless they’re really locked in. I loved the idea of Collins last year because of the efficient multi level scoring, and he’s probably slightly better than Wood, who, inexplicably, can’t shoot free throws worth a damn. But the Mavs have their guy for that role and need to use whatever they have left for a different kind of player, either a defensive big or an athletic wing.

If Kyrie does the math, he may not like the answer on what his paychecks will look like with LA. Not only this year, but future years as well. There's simply not enough salary space available to give him max deals.

Is this guy the most toxic player in the league? The three players I NEVER want to see on the Mavs no matter what the circumstances are Kyrie, Ben Simmons, and Westbrook and the Nets have two of them lol.

Wow. That's my list!
Of those three, at least Westbrook shows up for games.

IMO we have a log jam at SG, which is why I wouldn't mind turning Brunson into Julius Randle.
The logjam is at the 3 and sending Brunson out for Randle exacerbates the logjam instead of addressing it. Randle also does not fit what we are trying to do on offense and would be more doubling down on offense only players. Also there is no reason for the Nicks to send out Randle for Brunson and it does not work from a salary match anyways. This is not going to happen.

The Mavs needs are for Brunson (or a creator to replace him), for another 2-way playoff-playable wing, and for a better bigger option at center.
Whether the first is solved by JB, or by an alternate, remains to be seen.
Re the wing, they only had DFS and Bullock in the playoffs. We have assumed they would use the TPE or a trade for this. But Burks would fill that hole. His salary is also appropriate in the Mavs' greater scheme of things. The idea that they have a surplus of such players is pretty far off base.
Bringing Burks would allow them to pivot, to use assets to address a replacement for JB, or the need for a traditional center.

Too confident. How sure are you that Green and Ntilikina won’t take major steps forward this offseason? How sure are you that 6-6 Dinwiddie can’t/won’t play wing should the Mavs pick up Dragic with the TPMLE? Or that Bertans can’t play double-digit minutes in next year’s playoffs?
Even as it is right now, we’ve got about 48 rotation minutes at the spot you’re prioritizing to split among Bullock, Hardaway, Green, Ntilikina, and Hardy.
Brunson (34) Dinwiddie (14)
________________ (48)
Doncic (36) Dinwiddie (12)
Finney-Smith (36) Bertans (12)
Wood (28) Kleber (20)
I may be wrong about a lot of this, and I’m not 100% sure whose opinion I’m defending here. But I really don’t think the allocation of minutes above is “far off base.”
