There is a scenario where "division winner" is the top tie-break criteria, and there is a scenario where DEN wins their division. So I figured DEN could get the tie-break in that situation. But looking closer, I see that BOTH of those things cannot happen, which means magic number for Mavs is 1 (vs DEN).

It's a much better percentage in the new year, but they could clearly still stand to improve. Given how important Bullock's numbers have been to winning, it really feels like the missing piece for the Mavs is basically a star version of Bullock, someone like Klay Thompson in his prime.

Players above the 85th percentile in 3 point shooting and 80th percentile in D-EPM: Cam Johnson Mike Muscala Lonzo Ball Caleb Martin Jrue Holiday Royce O'Neale Mike Conley Derrick Rose Andrew Wiggins Nic Batum DFS is actually pretty close. So are Quentin Grimes, Gordon Hayward, Alec Burks and Gary Harris

For example, Royce O'Neale only scores 7.5 PPG, I don't know he'd actually be an upgrade on Bullock.

Grimes has been really good defensively. Gary Harris could be a target for the tax-payer MLE. Was interesting to hear that the lowest opponent´s shooting percentage at the rim is held by Hartenstein. I wonder whether the tax-payer MLE, plus Dirktown plus chance to start could lure him away from the Clippers. There are still chances to gradually improve the team and the asset base.

My guess is that would open up a bigger list. I'm curious how you did that search? Don't see a simple way to do that.

My guess is that would open up a bigger list. It is a lot easier to do a two factor search the old fashioned way (stack rank one criteria and run your finger down the column for the other criteria noting those who qualify). The EPM site doesn’t have a search function that I’m aware of, so three criteria would be even more manual. In my book, we may have the Bullock replacement on the roster already. Assuming we have 3 ball handlers still and THJ coming off the bench, Green would be a starter in name only and might still be a 12-15 minute guy given the mouths that need to be fed. IF there was a Reggie for Holmes deal, THJ joining a guard and Powell and one of Maxi/Bertans makes sense. Holmes/Powell DFS/Klertans Green/THJ Brunson/SD Luka/SD Maybe the outgoing is Maxi instead Reggie and Bertans is the backup PF? Maybe it is just Green as the outgoing and you insert Reggie where Green is slotted in the list above. It feels like we have an extra PF and an extra wing that in some combination could be used for an upgrade. I really have no idea who we would use. |
