That's such TERRIBLE GMing. You desperately keep that lottery pick at almost all cost. Luka's rookie year is your last year of tanking in a TRUE rebuild.

Dudley probably not--it looks like he is being brought in as one of Kidd's 'guys', continuing their relationship from LA, and more importantly, even Kidd acknowledges that the biggest problem with his previous stints as a head coach is that he went directly from playing to being head coach without getting any experience as an assistant. Dudley may have a great career as a coach ahead of him, but I doubt anyone is going to repeat the Kidd mistake of making him a head coach without a couple of years of seasoning as an assistant.
Yes. Please, please tell me that our fallback plan, if our risky, inexperienced coach that no one else would hire (possibly) fails, is not an even MORE risky, completely unproven coach who has even LESS experience as our current one.

I hope this isn't true...I really hope this isn't true. I mean you make the trade 10/10 but it's just another example of the ineptitude of plan powder.
The butterfly effect of being saddled with Bazemore's contract and still having their 2019 pick would have been interesting. Bazemore was moved for Turner who was the salary Hawks used to get Capela along with a pick. The Harrison Barnes situation plays out completely different as well since they wouldn't have had a path to useless cap space by dealing him.
If the KP trade still materializes maybe the proximity and lottery guarantee of the 2019 pick is enough with the contract ballast Mavs took back. Now Mavs have 2021, 2023 pick and Bazemore and Barnes salary to play with to go land yet another piece.
Just terrible GM'ing and Cuban'ing

Not surprised. That fits perfectly to the way this organization has been run for the last decade. Just sucks that only Carlisle and Donnie are gone by now, we’d be much better off with Cuban being away from the team, too. These three have run this team so badly it’s truly astonishing how little they got called out for it publicly over the years.
I still fully expect Luka to bolt when he gets the opportunity to choose a proper organization via UFA. Without him we’re Sacramento Kings-level bad. I could understand him 1000000%. This really is a joke of a basketball team.
Also you gotta love how broken down and grey haired Goran Dragic apparently must be the only playmaker on the market who fits their sky high standards.
Yuck.

I gotta say as hopeful as I was after the Donnie firing and RC finally being gone, the new guys so far look either like nepotism (Jkidd) or a Cuban-puppet (Nico). The offseason so far was as subpar as the 2019/2020 ones. Lots of expectations, zero success in FA, extremely passive in the asset management department (as always) and then they just settled for some fringe starters/bench players.
I can’t wait for the next star player to become available via trade only to read that DAL as always has interest but not the assets to make a deal happen.

I'm just going to pray he sells the team for some more crypto cash. C'mon Mark, you know you want to!

Major weasel-word qualifier in this context. Was Donnie for or against it? It's a simple question not requiring such ambiguity if Cato really does have a source for that claim. The way that's worded it comes across as Cato just trying to blame-shift to Cuban without being pinned down on the facts.
But honestly, the more I hear from Cato the more I'm convinced that he's really just a Donnie lackey who wrote the BV hit piece to benefit his guy and has been bitter ever since his primary team connection was fired. I don't really trust his objectivity on Mavs reporting right now. Cato having an agenda doesn’t make sense when Luka himself expressed his distaste for Bob being with the Mavs on multiple occasions. How is it a hit piece if it’s true? Isn’t that what reporters used to do? Expose truths?

Just terrible GM'ing and Cuban'ing Interesting to go back in time and see what could’ve been. It seems that taking on a bad contract to gain or keep a pick is almost always a great decision

Honestly, I thought the poster was talking about Dudley taking over... But other than Igor being Luka's former coach, he at least has been a head coach at a high international level (didn't he win the championship with Luka), but he hasn't got much NBA HC experience.

To make myself feel better, I am going to pretend we would have used the 9th pick on Dylan Windler.

Dude, we're talking about Jared "Freakin" Dudley. So I guess you can cancel the Lakers' title hopes since he's not there, and increase Dallas's.

Why do the Bulls want DJJ over Nance Jr.?
The Blazers got better and Markkanen got $16.75M a year. Guess his agent did well afterall.
In the last six months the Cavs added Markkanen, Rubio and Jarrett Allen, while we can´t find one single player of consequence. Embarrassing.
Should call the Bulls and offer them Kleber for White.
