After the whole Jimmy Kimmel fiasco Disney was not going to risk f****** with Inside the NBA, too.

LeBron is going to miss the start of the season. May be gone until mid-November.

The part of me that hates the Lakers and delights in their failures rejoices. The part that realizes all NBA fans, those who love LeBron and those who hate him, will miss him soon when he retires is sad.

From the article:

While he is set to play a crucial role for the Lakers, Ayton told reporters Wednesday he has not worked with Luka Doncic and LeBron James with less than two weeks before the season begins.

I haven’t,” Ayton said of playing with both superstars. “Something I’ve just been waiting on, just gotta prepare. JJ (Redick) and the coaching staff probably have something put together for us to really build chemistry.”

“DA got a couple of days with Luka last week,” Redick said. “No one’s gotten any time with LeBron, not just DA. That’s just reality.”

James is currently dealing with a nerve issue in his glute, and will be sidelined for at least three to four weeks due to sciatica on his right side. He will be out for the start of the 2025-26 season.

Ayton is essentially the Lakers’ X-factor heading into the 2025-26 season. After losing Anthony Davis in the blockbuster trade that shocked the league last February, Los Angeles played small in the playoffs and it cost them.

I wish Luka the best, but I admit to schadenfreude where LAL is concerned. A couple of things here...

Sciatica can be an ongoing problem. It may get better in a few weeks, but it may be an issue all season. LBJ may go into retirement with a whimper instead of a bang.

Luka is still "recovering" from his summer schedule so that Ayton has only had a couple practices?

If Ayton is the X-factor for the LALs, then they are in deeper feces that anyone expects. Ayton has put up serious numbers in the past, particularly at PHX, but, IMO, LAL is hanging their hopes on past performance not current reality.

While he is set to play a crucial role for the Lakers, Ayton told reporters Wednesday he has not worked with Luka Doncic and LeBron James with less than two weeks before the season begins.

Mavs have two players in the Ringer's top 100 (Kyrie not ranked due to injury).  ESPN had four with Lively in the 70's and PJ at 99.    I don't have an issue with leaving either off.  I really think Lively should be a clear top 100 but last year was a lost year for him.  He needs to show he can stay on the court.  PJ is probably linked to 5-10 others who are right on the edge.

Malcolm Brogdon retires after nine seasons.

Nets released former first round pick Dariq Whitehead. He is two way eligible. He had a ton of injuries. Former top five recruit with Lively at Duke. Went to Monteverde for high school. Could be an interesting gamble for a two way.

On board with this. Do we have a 3rd 2-way yet?

He's only 21 and highly recruited as you said.

I thought he was a top 3 talent in that draft looking at his highschool highlights. Think he missed a lot of time in college and then kept dropping and dropping. Guess the doctors can score that one as a win. Cry

Dinwiddie just got waived by the Hornets
Apparently they had to waive one guaranteed contract before the season starts

He lead the Mavericks in minutes played last year

I wonder if we will see him in the NBA again?  His first stint in Dallas was the last inspired ball he has played.

No.  No.  Please no.  This is Nico Hardhead, and I say no!  To be honest I think he could contribute to some team, but he has to be ball dominate to do that.

Our team...uh, sorry--I'm Nico.  The Mavs need good, better, and best players who can mesh as a team.

Houston?  They need a backup PG since VanVleet is out for the season. Or they could roll with Sheppard and Holiday. Durant can initiate the offense as well.

And these guys took advantage of Nico???

Full quote:
“When Griffin floated the idea of pick swaps, Pelinka said he’d consider it. A few days later, the two spoke again. Griffin then convened his front office in a conference room to provide an update. He told the group that the conversation had taken an odd turn.
According to multiple Pelicans basketball operations staffers, Griffin said Pelinka had told him that Jeanie Buss didn’t know what pick swaps were. At first, Griffin assumed this was just a bargaining ploy; after all, it was common for GMs to blame their owners for holding up negotiations.
But then, Griffin told his group, Pelinka posed a question: If their roles were reversed, how would Griffin go about explaining pick swaps to his boss?”

Well of course they do, if there are GMs that are dumb enough to believe an owner can´t grasp the concept of pick swaps. Probably told Nico, Jeanie doesn´t know what draft picks are.

How did the Around The NBA thread turn into a Mavs one? All Mavs topics should be in Mavs news.
