RE: MAVS NEWS: 8th in West | 12th O | 24th D | 17th Net | 10-3 over last 13 games - KillerLeft - 03-09-2021 (03-09-2021, 05:34 PM)Kammrath Wrote: As an emotional fan I would be an 8. This team isn't exciting to me right now and whatever dysfunction is going on is stealing my joy. Putting up with another half season of that would be hard. That's pretty close to where I am, too. I know the popular retort to questions like this is to ask "who's available for the cap space, anyway?" But, I just feel like we're too quick to dismiss the idea that unforeseen possibilities arise all the time. Even if it's not Collins, I feel like there will be something that makes sense to shoot for, if they decide to go that way. I also feel like the play-in tournament has drastically clouded the trade market. I think there are fewer sellers out there and more buyers to drive up the prices. By comparison, I believe free agency might be the better way to go. Since I couldn't care less about Johnson and I'm lukewarm (at best) on Richardson, I can get behind the idea that cap room can be attained with little to no pain, especially if there's a chance to move Powell when summer trading commences. I'd even be willing to part with THJ if the right target was interested, though I'd have to tender my resignation to President Biden (with regret). Seriously though if KP starts to play some defense and JB continues his improvement, this team is pretty good. (oh and Luka keeps shooting the three over 40 percent) RE: MAVS NEWS: 8th in West | 12th O | 24th D | 17th Net | 10-3 over last 13 games - Hypermav - 03-09-2021 https://twitter.com/KSATRJ/status/1369428705739685898?s=20 RE: MAVS NEWS: 8th in West | 12th O | 24th D | 17th Net | 10-3 over last 13 games - dirkfansince1998 - 03-09-2021 (03-09-2021, 05:29 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: On a scale of 1-10, how disappointed would everyone be if there were no roster changes at the trade deadline? I can see a scenario in which the Mavs are still determined to get to the summer with cap space. It's probably not what I'd do, but I can see them staying the course. 10. And you already mentioned the reason. I don´t see any combination of free agents that is better than RIchardson + THJ + whatever the Mavs can add in a Johnson trade. Leftovers, injury prone former allstars (Mavs already have one) and RFA. I really don´t like the options. It probably won´t stop the Mavs from doing it anyway. Rinse and repeat. Mavs enter free agency with max capspace. Who will be the next Wes Matthews/Harrison Barnes? Interesting to see how the board feels if DAL goes 6-2 during this stretch. Only B2B, tonight and tomorrow. everything else is at least 1 day rest. 2 games with LACs (in DAL), 2 with POR (in POR). One @DEN. SAS, OKC and MIN are the rest. 6 of the 8 are with teams just ahead in the standings. Come out strong and DAL could end up above the play-in flurry. I mean, I guess they should trade James Johnson's expiring, but I doubt that gets much in return that really moves the needle. The Mavs aren't beating the Lakers or Nets in a 7 game series with the names being thrown around. I'll be more disappointed if the Mavs sell KP for 30 cents on the dollar or take on Kevin Love's horrible contract because they had to "do something". RE: MAVS NEWS: 8th in West | 12th O | 24th D | 17th Net | 10-3 over last 13 games - ItsGoTime - 03-10-2021 First year in a long time I’ll be just fine without a move. This team needs more time together. KP, JRich both need to establish their spots. Green and possibly Bey need court time. Maxi needs to have the harsh case of COVID well behind him. If there is a move, I’ll only be happy if it is a good move for the weaknesses we have and at least a fair trade, if not an unbalanced one leaning towards the Mavs. RE: MAVS NEWS: 8th in West | 12th O | 24th D | 17th Net | 10-3 over last 13 games - Kammrath - 03-10-2021 https://twitter.com/NickDePaula/status/1369710234780852226 RE: MAVS NEWS: 8th in West | 12th O | 24th D | 17th Net | 10-3 over last 13 games - Kammrath - 03-10-2021 https://twitter.com/townbrad/status/1369859776537112576 RE: MAVS NEWS: 8th in West | 12th O | 24th D | 17th Net | 11-3 over last 14 games - Kammrath - 03-10-2021 https://twitter.com/CallieCaplan/status/1369861861110333441 RE: MAVS NEWS: 8th in West | 12th O | 24th D | 17th Net | 11-3 over last 14 games - Kammrath - 03-10-2021 https://twitter.com/HPbasketball/status/1369863331125727236 |
