RE: AROUND the NBA: Harden pushing to be traded, is he the next domino to fall? - cow - 12-21-2020 (12-21-2020, 04:23 PM)ClutchDirk Wrote: https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1341130677320867841 Not that it would happen, but I think he'd fit in really well here. RE: AROUND the NBA: Harden pushing to be traded, is he the next domino to fall? - Aussiebballer - 12-21-2020 Wouldn’t mind a PJ Tucker trade or signing next offseason. Obviously only a short term player but seems like an ideal fit next to KP. Means Klieber can stay as a super sub and adds a lot of line up versatility which should make Carlisle happy. RE: AROUND the NBA: Harden pushing to be traded, is he the next domino to fall? - Aussiebballer - 12-21-2020 Could do PJ and House to Dallas Powell and Brunson to Houston Or if Houston doesn’t want Powell PJ + House or Mclemore to Dallas George Hill and Roby to Houston Powell and Brunson + a couple of 2nd picks to OKC RE: AROUND the NBA: Harden pushing to be traded, is he the next domino to fall? - DanSchwartzgan - 12-22-2020 Hollinger's prediction piece today has Luka as MVP, Carlisle as coach of the year and he's previously predicted Dallas to finish the regular season second in the West (he doesn't think the Lakers will push that hard during the regular season). He thinks there will be a very active trade market between now and the TDL with so many 2021 FA's already off the board (including Holiday who can extend after 2/29): What do Giannis pursuers do now? Dallas, Toronto and Miami all kept their 2021 cap clear for a potential run at Giannis Antetokounmpo; and the Knicks lower-key did basically the same thing, although they had fewer 2020 options. It’s crazy, in retrospect, that three teams with legitimate hopes for 2020 decided to play the waiting game, and now they’re looking at a market where not only Giannis, but also Rudy Gobert and Paul George, are off the board. One suspects Jrue Holiday will be too, once Milwaukee can legally extend his deal in February. However, this could create ideal conditions for a frothy trade market. Dallas, Toronto and Miami are sitting on multiple quality players and a plethora of expiring contracts, the necessary grease for some heavy-duty wheeling and dealing. While free agency still has some big names out there (could Toronto reunite with Kawhi?), one presumes these teams are shifting their thinking toward Plan B. Expect each to get pretty aggressive as a result. We've been hearing on this board that we don't have any assets. Not that I trust Hollinger further than I can throw him, but we all know that Kleber, DFS, Brunson, now Richardson (and previously Curry) are trade assets. I don´t think anybody here disputes that. But probably not enough to land a real big fish, and therefore the questions become a) can you find ways to include a 1st round pick b) is the return even an upgrade over the package you send out. Let´s say the Mavs trade for a quality starter but lose key pieces of the bench unit (Kleber, Brunson), young players (Green, Terry) or even a starter (THJ, DFS). In that case the returning player better is a perfect fit and at least the 3rd or 4th best player on the roster. I just have to say, now that the focus has shifted on acquiring defenders, it's a lot easier to get well fitting parts because defenders are unsung hero work horses for the most part. Those are the types of guys that we work well with. (12-22-2020, 01:29 PM)dirkfansince1998 Wrote: Certainly lacking draft picks. I will say, as long as they are trading for the best player in trade type guys, there is almost always value left for those types if they don't work out here. Unless they're Rondo types, which I think this FO is pretty guarded about those types at this point. RE: AROUND the NBA: Harden pushing to be traded, is he the next domino to fall? - dirkfansince1998 - 12-22-2020 The Mavs actually have the most valuable asset in the entire league but I wouldn´t trade it for 20 unprotected 1st round picks. CJ McCollum+Collins+Simons+2022 FRP, 23 pickswap, 2024, FRP, and 2025 pickswap Makes too much sense not to. Harden is locked up for 3 years. Lillard has always been a better scorer than distributor, and Harden has showed with CP3 it can be a lethal duo. Stotts high tempo motion offense also stops Harden from ball hogging. Watch it happen. RE: AROUND the NBA: Harden pushing to be traded, is he the next domino to fall? - HanspardsShowerVoice - 12-22-2020 I'd like to see Harden go to Atlanta just because for the trainwreck factor of mixing James Harden and the Atlanta nightlife. Atlanta is absolutely desperate to make the playoffs too. They have a lot of young assets with Collins, Hunter and Reddish. They just don't have a good big expiring contract to use to make salaries match when taking on Harden's gigantic number. Some core unit of Harden + Trae + Gallo + Bogdanovic + Okongwu would be amazingly fun on offense and historically bad on defense. RE: AROUND the NBA: Harden pushing to be traded, is he the next domino to fall? - fifteenth - 12-22-2020 I think Harden should circulate through the NBA destroying the chemistry of as many of our competitors as possible.
