RE: AROUND the NBA: McCollum trade "probable" | Kawhi done in LAC? | Lillard unhappy - KillerLeft - 06-27-2021 (06-27-2021, 09:46 PM)Kammrath Wrote: Maybe the most underrated player in the NBA? RE: AROUND the NBA: McCollum trade "probable" | Kawhi done in LAC? | Lillard unhappy - Mavs2021 - 06-27-2021 I think the Knicks would accept Brunson + Kleber for Knox + our 2023 pick. Maybe you can even throw in Richardson´s expiring contract, if you need some extra space. Thibs is not a re-building coach. He´s win now. Let´s be real. That 2023 pick is not worth that much anyway due to the protection. If Doncic went down for any extended period of time, we are easily bottom five, assuming Harrison isn´t as dumb as the old Mavs hierarchy managing draft positions. If Luka is healthy, we are likely outside the top 20. So Brunson and Kleber is a pretty sweet deal. Getting that 2023 pick back is not the issue, if Lillard or somebody else wants to come here. Finding an overall package, maybe... Porzingis to Sacramento Barnes + Bagley + picks to Portland Lillard to Dallas RE: AROUND the NBA: McCollum trade "probable" | Kawhi done in LAC? | Lillard unhappy - Scott41theMavs - 06-27-2021 (06-27-2021, 07:57 PM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: There certainly does feel like there's at least a tiny bit of smoke here. So, let's pretend this is the case and the best buddies with Nico and wants to be coached by Kidd is a thing. What is the minimum Portland would take. Am I the only one, for reasons of realism and things that are actually worth getting excited about, who is more focused on us pilfering their other good players if Dame leaves? Those four "new foundation" players that Dan mentioned are each better than every current Mav other than Luka (GTHO if you're one of those who are going to argue that that isn't true regarding KP for any one of them. It requires colossal Mavs homerism to assert that KP was better in '20-'21 than any of those four). If they want to give away one or more of them after the Lillard trade, lets get in on that. I wonder if you might get varying answers from NBA GMs, and certainly in this forum, which makes it a good question. Mavs aren't getting Dame but we have seen in the NBA when you get the stars, getting role guys isn't that hard. I would take Luka + Dame and filler all day long because you will get guys that want to play when stars. But its not going to happen anyway. I know he is not a rah rah type of guy and he lets his play do his talking, but when you are the face of the franchise you have higher standards. Those Clippers have been fighting tooth and nail since Leonard went out. Is it too much to sit on the bench and cheer the team on or give a few quotes how proud he is of his guys? Like it or not, Leonard exit from San Antonio was not pretty. His exit from Toronto was made easier considering he brought them a championship. He was a FA and could go to the Clippers if he wanted, but it just seems like he brings a lot of drama....especially for a guy who supposedly never talks. I do. Milwaukee needed Cleveland to allow them remove protection on a pick in order to make the Jrue Holiday trade. Payment was a second rounder. Good catch on a way to trade even less salary to Portland without going under the cap. This is kind of a ridiculous take. Forget for a second that we are cherry picking one season where KP came back early from an injury and struggled to get fully back to speed. McCollum. I will give you him. I think they are similar in on court value, but McCollum is definitely more durable. Powell. Probably similar value this year, although he fell of a bit when he joined Portland. Covington? He scored less than 9 points a game. Nurkic? He plays less games than KP I realize KP had a rough year defensively (the only one of his career) and a counter argument is going to be defense related, but those guys were supposed to be the backbone of the Portland D and it was terrible (29th I believe). KP has been a disappointment so far, and if you want to talk contract value it is a different discussion, but I think sometimes the KP bashing goes too far. LOL no. Absolutely nothing the Mavs have to offer outside of Luka is enough unless Dame says Dallas is the only team on his list. I'd rule out the Heat unless they once again pull a rabbit out of their hat. Here's their pick situation 2021- 1st to OKC, 2nd to ATL 2022- 1st swapped to HOU, 2nd going to IND 2023- 1st to OKC, 2nd to either OKC, BOS, IND 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027 2nd round picks all gone as well. So basically the Heat only have 2025 and 2027 to give away with 2 pick swaps slotted in between. Raptors have everything essentially but they seem to be closer to rebuilding than contention. I'd imagine it'd cost TOR at least Pascal and some picks. Not sure Dame wants to do that or even live in Canada. Knick's have the most picks but I'd say the weakest roster vs the Celtics, Nuggets, Philly. Is Portland enamored with Ben Simmons+CJ McCollum core? Boston's package would have to revolve around one of Brown or Tatum which they've been reluctant to do. If Ainge was still there I'd expect them to be in play but I don't think Stevens is the same big game hunter Ainge was. Lots of interesting routes. Hopefully there is a Mavs angle in all of this. What makes you say that? My thinking regarding Boston is that they're still better fixed than average for picks, no? And, I can see Lillard thinking he can just slide right into Kemba's job and lift that team a level or two. The Philly thinking was about Simmons, yeah. |
