RE: AROUND the NBA: Dec 1 Camp, Dec 22 Tip-Off, 72 game schedule - Tyler - 12-02-2020

Russ to WAS for Wall and a 1st

Between the price they paid to the Clippers to get Paul and to OKC to get Westbrook, Houston traded all of this for Wall and a protected 1st round pick (not including all of the other cap filler players):

Patrick Beverley
Lou Williams
Montrezl Harrell
3 1st round picks
2 pick swaps

Fun fact -- in the three seasons since that first Paul trade in 2017, Wall has played in only 73 total games.

In any case, I look forward to Westbrook playing well again in Washington now that he's away from Harden. At least Wall can't disappoint anymore. Anything he does will seem like a win after all the injuries he's dealt with.

why? Top 3 city. Top 2 nba franchise.

I live in Dallas so I’m a Mavs fan but it’s not close. Lakers are far and away the most glamorous and desirable NBA franchise. They just went from a complete shitshow to winning the title in 2 years.

I forgot Brooks was the coach.  Luka will have some triple double competition his year.

They had won one play-off series since 2010. This wasn´t exactly a two year rebuild. They collected a lot of assets to make that trade for Davis possible.

Choke Fans are happy about the trade...they wanted Westbrook gone and believe they got better...

So I know you hate my posts, but now you're full on trying to convince me to take my talents to LA????? Harsh, tbh.

They probably did...until they trade Harden tomorrow or the next day.

Washington got WAY better. I'm not a Westbrook fan at all, but at least he'll have the ball in his hands there. Whatever he's got left, that's the way to get it out of him.

RE: AROUND the NBA: Dec 1 Camp, Dec 22 Tip-Off, 72 game schedule - Mavs2019 - 12-02-2020

Since the Rockets are willing to do such a trade, we should call, offer Powell/THJ and two protected 2027 + 2029 2nd round picks for Harden. You never know.

I still don´t understand this. I refuse to believe, they´d trade Harden and go into a full rebuild. Even assuming they really want to, they just lowered their asking price with this trade alone.

Well, clinging to the repetitive delusion that success with Harden is always one big trade away is literally all they've got. These days it's also part of the denial about what's inevitably coming with Harden.

They’re in a better spot now than when the offseason started. They can’t tank because they don’t have their picks. Instead of WB and RoCo they now have Wall, Wood and 3 FRP’s. They will still remain competitive while they look for a monster haul for harden that could take awhile. Good moves to buy some time.

Don’t you see. It’s a players league. Harden is not happy and will be gone at some point. They’ve had that power awhile now. It’s why it’s important to make sure Luka is taken care of. We were spoiled with Dirk

Waiting for the inevitable Simmons+picks to Harden trade
I want to see what Simmons will look like with his own team

Simmons with spacing has been great but even after the Curry trade I just don´t see how the Embiid-Simmons duo can work. I think Simmons best position would be similar to Draymonds. Ballhandling small ball five. Other option would be PF next to a stretch 5 like BroLo or KP.
I actually think that he would be a great fit in Dallas but most of the community disagrees so I am probably missing something. Not to mention that the Mavs don´t have the assets to trade for him anyway.

Simmons would be amazing next to KP.  The ball movement on this team would be freaking amazing!  He is terrific defensively on pretty much anyone in the league.  If you have shooters around him, he is fire...

That said, in a trade for Harden?  Next to Wall?  They could be pretty terrible together on offense.  Any team could just pack the paint and dare those two to shoot all game.  But defensively?  That would be sick.  Still have to see Wall move post injury, but they would be leading the league in steals!
