RE: AROUND the NBA: - omahen - 05-01-2021

Portland has Boston tomorrow, it should be an interesting game. Both teams desperately need wins to avoid play-in. Lakers are playing Toronto and I guess LA wins this one.

RE: AROUND the NBA: - Kammrath - 05-01-2021

Nuggets leading the Clips late in the 3rd....Nugs win and they are in the 3rd seed.

I like Portland for the win, probably, but I'm starting to think the Lakers are going to have a fairly tough time getting back into fighting shape.

Might work out where both Dallas and Portland can avoid the play-in.

Next six Lakers games are brutal: Tor, Den, Lac, Por, Pho, NY

RE: AROUND the NBA: - Kammrath - 05-01-2021

I just want an all LA first round series....OR....LAL getting bounced in the play in.

Is that too much to ask?

Portland might have actually a bit easier schedule than it may seem at first glance. Next six are Bos, Atl, Cle, Lal, Sa, Hou. So three solid teams, one tank and Lakers. Sort of similar like Mavs with Sac, Mia, Bro, Cle, Cle and Mem. Last three Portland games are against Utah, Phoenix and Denver, but those three might be resting at that point. Mavs finish with Pel, Tor who might still be fighting for play in and Minny, who didn't get the tank message.

The Nuggets are ½-game ahead of the Clippers for now ...

But ... not for long.

But on the other hand ...

The Nuggets do have the advantage of the head-to-head tiebreaker versus the Clippers.

A LAL vs LAC first round series would be epic. If it takes the Mavs falling to 6th and Clips staying at 4 then by all means (or better yet Mavs stay at 5 and Clips go back to 3)

So if the Mavs stay at 5 and Denver at 4, whatcha think about that matchup?   Denver is good, even without Murray.

We match up well against Denver. Even Boban can play. Jokic is slow and can’t destroy our lack of rim protector like some of the other teams do. Without Murray it frees up the defense to concentrate on Jokic and MPj. It’s all around the best matchup.

Having said that it’s often not wise to draw the hot team. This is assuming they cool off a bit down the stretch. It’s really either them or LAC. The alternative would be play in(ewww)

I honestly think the Mavs matchup pretty well against DEN. At least better than the Clips/PHX/UTA

I do think them losing Murray will show itself more in the playoffs than the regular season, because once that game slows down a dynamic guard thats a 2nd option is what you need for Jokic when the double team comes. MPJ can be that but his defense makes playing against him easier imo.

All this to say that DEN would be a tough out, but probably the Mavs best chance. I don't think they have any one that can stop Luka. And they don't have a clear cut defender that can stop KP. If the Mavs shooters show up I think we have a chance in a 7 game series.

The Cavs are starting to earn the dumpster fire moniker.

First the Love drama, now this? All on top of another losing season? Sheeeeeesh.

RE: AROUND the NBA: - HoosierDaddyKid - 05-02-2021

Sexton is the resident chucker now. He takes double the shot attempts of his teammates. Him and Garland score 60% of their points. Allen and Love should be getting more touches in the post.

Yeah Kevin Love totally. Shooting 40% from 2pt range, 35% from 3pt range. Looking at the numbers, he shouldn´t be playing at all, because Nance Jr. Hartenstein and Allen are outplaying him. I assume his defense is still trash and the unprofessional inbounds incident speaks for his motivation. He´s probably mad he didn´t get the buyout like Drummond.

LaMelo is a awesome passer. Lonzo has improved,  but LaMelo is clearly the better player.
