RE: AROUND the NBA: Lebron out 4-6 weeks - ItsGoTime - 03-26-2021 (03-25-2021, 07:57 PM)RDB Wrote: This board is funny. I literally said the same thing about Collins around pages 80-90 and was roasted on this board. Sorry Kam but you are likely going to have to take a break for this silly, nonsensical post...the jeers should be coming shortly.Ya man, I've had plenty of moments of being on your side of this type of thing. I mostly try to post safe calculatingly worded things to just stay in the middle lane I want to be in. Still have strong opinions about the work of the FO as a whole and starting to feel out the chinks in the RC armor, but I've always tried to look at talent acquisition posts with an open mind. Don't let a few posters ruin your experience here. You have a perspective, sometimes it'll be outlandish, sometimes it'll be spot on (If I remember correctly you came out with a banger on your first post) and sometimes it'll be meh. In my roughly 20+ years (don't remember when I actually found this site) I've been ran through for some of the ideas I've posted (esp in the beginning, but still to this day, check out my thoughts about that Delon trade!). Just keep a level head and try to explain as best you can for those that either take your words out of context or read too much into them. If it gets too much, just stop responding. That's how I've tried to navigate this community. RE: AROUND the NBA: Lebron out 4-6 weeks - ItsGoTime - 03-26-2021 So, Orl got 3 1sts, 2 2nds, Hampton and WCJ with the possibility of a SnT guy in OPJ in the offseason for Vuc, Gordon and Fournier. I'd say that is a pretty good haul. RE: AROUND the NBA: Lebron out 4-6 weeks - HanspardShowerVoice - 03-26-2021 IMHO, it depends how high those Bull picks turn out. I don't hold out much hope for WCJ ever being a rotation player on a playoff team, and late 1st round picks are just throwing darts at the dartboard. Looking at last couple of years, Josh Jackson might be the only example that at least partially turned around a very dissapointing career. Time will tell if ORL is the right change/coach, I still hold out hope that he turns into a new age Horford. You could be right about him though. Where the picks land isn't the point at the moment of the trade. Sure, time will tell if they use the picks correctly, but as far as what they get for the players they're giving up, I think this was pretty good (probably could have gotten more for Fournier cause IMO, they for sure could have gotten more in a SnT for him in the offseason, at least a better player if only 2 seconds are the draft return). Maybe the league is catching up and smart GMs realize that a defensive liability like Vuc isn´t worth a king´s ransom. We know that the Magic declined Gordon for two 1sts in the offseason. No team offered more than one 1st at the deadline. I was talking about name recognition too, not the actual play of the players. The two are sometimes not the same at all and some GMs can get caught up in that. Also, the price of players was at an all-time premium after the AD and PG13 trades. Hopefully after this TDL, it stands to level out that craziness a bit. Also, OPJ, WCJ and 2 firsts, I thought, was the best value received out of all 3. He openly complains about playing the five and he's not physical presence down there, but he's also not athletic enough and skilled or a good enough shooter to play on the perimeter on the 4. There was a place in the league for this kind of guy 10-15 years ago, like a Carlos Boozer, but in 2021 how much of your offense do you want to devote to providing post touches for mid range 2s to a player who's not really elite at it? He maybe can make it as a PnR rim runner, but that's not a premium player. I also don't think he's a naturally assertive and aggressive personality. RE: AROUND the NBA: Lebron out 4-6 weeks - Tyler - 03-26-2021 Aaaaand that's why the Redick deal didn't materialize until the very last second. https://twitter.com/TheAthletic/status/1375458254130712580 RE: AROUND the NBA: Lebron out 4-6 weeks - DanSchwartzgan - 03-26-2021 (03-26-2021, 10:49 AM)Tyler Wrote: Aaaaand that's why the Redick deal didn't materialize until the very last second. That makes great sense. It was probably either something that didn’t happen (like this), or something that happened very late (like Dipo for Trash from Miami). If it was Green or Redick (and why wouldn’t NO wait if the only other option was a buy out), then clearly Dallas feels it is short a shooter (and seemingly wanted a deep bench PF just in case). It makes you wonder why Burke can’t handle the role envisioned here (though as good as Burke has been in Dallas shooting 3’s, he’s not as good from the corner as Green/Redick). Is Redick strictly deep bench, or will he get the Burke minutes (maybe 5-7 minutes at the start of the 2nd and 4th). The next question is what (if anything) do these preferences say about the summer. Wow, that's a great question. You have a talent for cutting right to the heart of it. I'm on the board of directors for the board's Trey Burke fan club, but I think I'm excited to give Redick a try at those minutes, personally. For one thing, I think that's sort of not a great role for Burke. His value THIS season has been his shooting percentage, but to my thinking he's more of a versatile scorer than that. In other words, I think impacting the game immediately during short stretches, rather than having a chance to get yourself into the flow of the game, is a new and different skillset for him and probably right up Redick's alley. LOOOOOL Danny Green really is Donnie's white whale. I love that the Mavs were pining for Green this whole time. Thankfully Redick is a better shooter, though injured. So Donnie did right in my eyes. I think he will get Burke role and then some more. North of 15 minutes per game to get a chance in first 10 games or so. Then everything depends on his production RE: AROUND the NBA: Lebron out 4-6 weeks - HanspardShowerVoice - 03-26-2021 It's officially the day after the trade deadline, because the Celtics are leaking all the trades that Danny Ainge almost made through the Boston media. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/03/26/sports/celtics-made-run-all-star-center-nikola-vucevic-will-now-focus-andre-drummond/ |
