Seems like they’re moving on from people who didn’t like Paul George. (Just my speculation)

And that probably infuriates Silver because it doesn't translate to actual games watched. Which is what they monetize. League viewership has been steadily declining for years. It fell faster than a fat man who slipped off the diving board by accident in a pool in the bubble. Silver has to find a way to translate the social media views into actual viewers, while not further alienating a large portion of his audience with political messaging.

I suppose the NBA can justify that cord cutters are a big problem, but then why not bolster your terrible League Pass subscription arm and turn it into a usable product that isn't overpriced glitchy shit? MLB's league pass shows how great a subscription to a league can be.

Silver overall has been a terrible commissioner. Between ads on jerseys, to destroying league pass in 2015,  to focusing more on social issues than the NBA's own business. I wonder how much longer he has before the owners decide enough is enough.

I'd take Lou Williams on the cheap.

He has a cheap contract, but what worries me is come playoff time Lou will be terrible.

I don't even know what the Clips would realistically want for a 34 year old who plays no defense. But hey he can definitely still score.

I personally have no interest in either of Bev or Lou. MUCH prefer the Mavs existing pieces.

Need a none Luka option in the crunch and someone to lead bench scoring.  He'd be a good short term fit.

Totally agree. There is only one thing Mavs need to do now. Look for upgrades of the starting five. Neither Bev nor Lou are that. We have more than enough role players.

IMHO, he bottomline is it's more enjoyable to follow and discuss the NBA's transactions than to watch the televised product.     Fans having a sense of attachment and investment to the players of their favorite team is what causes them to turn on the TV on a random Tuesday Night and stay on it for 2 hours.   All of the player empowerment and player movement is good for driving clicks and podcast listens, but it doesn't drive longterm engagement that the league can monetize.

I also think there are things that maybe the hardcore NBA fan enjoys like an overabundance of instant replay reviews for the sake of  "fairness" and a style of play that is analytically efficient to winning a basketball contest but not overly aesthetically pleasing that hurts the overall entertainment product for the casual fan who just wants to watch an entertaining product for 2 hours.

I also think Trey Burke if given the green light can approximate what Lou does for a bench unit.

Yep, Lou shouldn't be anywhere near your 9 man rotation in the playoffs ... which is why a contending team is currently trying to dump him.    He should go to Orlando and do Lou Williams things in the regular season.

Local blackouts. Until this ends the viewership of NBA(and MLB) will steadily decline. It’s a catch 22. Teams need these lucrative regional TV deals for revenue. But this exclusivity makes it difficult for anyone without cable to watch. Cord cutting is the new norm and they will no longer enjoy the fat checks if the teams move away from that tit. Only hardcore fans get league pass as it stands. Teams need to lock in loyal viewers but it’s near impossible if you can’t offer a stand alone streaming platform to these customers. As far as mavs go, having our RSN(FSSW) floating around going to Sinclair or wherever it’s sold next is not good. It’s probably wishful thinking, but it sure would be nice if Cuban bought the Rangers and put them and the mavs on one of the channels he owns(with stand alone streaming as well)

No. He can't. Lou is the top bench scorer of all time. That carries weight.

Well in the last two seasons Burke has had...

PER 16.2
Pts/36: 19.1
USG%: 23.3

Lou this past season...

PER: 17.3
Pts/36: 22.9
USG%: 28.4

In 5% less usage Trey has scored only 3.8 pts less per 36. Again, I think Trey can approximate what Lou brings if given the opportunity. Lou is over the hill and past his prime.

Lou was about to win 6MOY as recent as last season. He lost out to the he made look good off the bench...

Like I agree Lou isn't the best fit. But I'd be more concerned about his career playoff disappearances rather than worry about how he'd perform in the regular season as the reason to not give him a chance.

I don’t know whether Burke can be as good as Lou Williams or not. I do think Burke is qualified to play that role at a high level in the NBA.
