Just for this...I erase all of my apprehensions about Drummond.  I can't stand that Caruso guy.

If necessary, I may pick them up again, but for the next couple of days, he gets a pass and is simply awesome.

That's why I said it was a fun hypothetical.

Look, there's a lot we don't know. You don't know if the GSW 2nd will be high, low or in between. It may be the best pick the Mavs can trade before the 2025 first, but it's still a second round pick. Let's not get carried away. You also don't know if the 2020 draft is good or bad. Not that it matters because even if the draft is historically deep, the guy you pick in the 2nd probably won't make it in the NBA. Nor do you know that Igoudala would only stay in Dallas for half a season if the Mavs traded for him. You certainly don't know that Igoudala only wants to play in California. And you don't know if Igoudala has anything left in the tank. (How old was Jason Kidd when the Mavs won a title? )

My point was a bunch of people are saying things like the Mavs wouldn't be so STUPID to trade a second round pick for Andre Igoudala.

All I'm saying is maybe -- just maybe -- Donnie Nelson and the professional talent evaluators, analytics PhD's, legal experts and sports physicians on the Mavs staff (one of the winningest and best run franchises for two decades) know a thing or two about what they're doing.

There is risk / reward in everything. Not saying they (much less I) want to trade for Igoudala.

My point was *IF THEY DO* deal a 2nd for Andre Igoudala, and Iggy helps the Mavs win just one playoff game and create a memory that will last my lifetime (like VC did) ... Sign. Me. Up.

Because the 2nd will probably be worthless and the only reason I watch the NBA is to see my favorite team work, and get better, and fight, and maybe put themselves in position to win in the playoffs, and have success when the stakes are highest, when the experience of a win can propel them to a championship, and the memories can last a lifetime.

...I don't mean to go all soft so maybe my opinion is better described by the fake Iggy himself, in an Allen Iverson voice:

"It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about a second. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be Andre Igoudala, and we're talking about a second. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about a second, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about a second. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last but we're talking about a second man. How silly is that? ..."

One of the team's best assets is 30-year-old forward Marcus Morris, who is coming off a career-high 38 points against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Colin Martin and Ian Begley of SNY.tv provided the latest news on Morris, with the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers mentioned as potential suitors:
"As far as a trade market for Morris, several teams continue to say that the Knicks should be able to get a late first-round pick in return for the veteran forward. The New York Post reported that the Sixers have interest in Morris. Opposing teams expect other contenders like the Clippers and Lakers to feel out the market for Morris as well. The issue for the Knicks will be matching salaries, as Morris is making $15 million this season."

Dang, that contract was movable before this news.

Morris would be a good get. I think any sort of stretch big or large wing/big hybrid would give you the option to start Maxi.

After I looked at his stats this year, I retract this statement.

If he does decide to have surgery then it increases the chance of them doing a fire sale season is over type trades...

Him playing through his injury last year really destroyed him. He's been hampered all season so far and looks nothing like Blake Griffin.

I think next year he might bounce back, but imo Griffin is done being a star.

Snell as a defensive upgrade to Curry without losing 3%?

He actually fits perfectly into the TE. TE and a future protected second for Snell. Then it would be really easy to trade Curry.

RE: NBA Trade Rumors (Pistons discussing Drummond trade with Mavs, ATL, and others) - aguiar95 - 01-06-2020

DAL: Drummond, Snell.
DET: Lee, Powell, Jackson, Brunson, 2020 GSW 2nd.

DAL: Thybulle, Scott.
PHI: Curry.

Doncic/THJ/DFS/KP/Drummond/Wright/Snell/Thybulle/Kleber

Scott comes in foul troubles or rest on our big rotation. Boban and Barea in specific matchups and moments in the game.

RE: NBA Trade Rumors (Pistons discussing Drummond trade with Mavs, ATL, and others) - vfromlmf - 01-06-2020

Tony Snell is a fine, versatile player in the DFS mould. But with all the talk about Drummond I wonder if folks have forgotten, the best player on Detroit is Derrick Rose.

If the Mavs want to put a veteran playmaker next to Doncic ... how about a Wright for Rose swap?

I know we're trying to conjure up ideas to consolidate assets, but I'm a hard no on trading either Wright or Curry.

Firstly, Curry is statistically the one of the most efficient 3pt shooters in franchise history. The only players that come close are Hubert Davis, and Jose Calderon, both of which aren't even close to Curry's 3pt totals. I don't get why we're so eager to trade away one of the most lethal 3pt shooters in the league, especially considering that we've been dying for a consistent 3pt shooter for years now.

Curry is exactly what we want from a bench piece. Furthermore, he works extremely well with Wright. Both of them bring stability to our bench rotation and consistency, and their production is one of the main reasons why the Mavs bench is rated so high.

Now if the Mavs want to trade Curry away for a star? Sure I'm all for it. Sign me up. But trading away Curry for another bench piece would be a lateral move at best, and a major setback at worst.

Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard was sincere in his comments last month about his intentions to re-sign sharpshooting forward Davis Bertans this summer, but that hasn't stopped teams from showing interest ahead of the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline.

In addition to the Sixers, Hawks and Lakers, the Celtics and Nuggets have emerged as suitors for Bertans' services, NBC Sports Washington has learned. Bertans, 27, has enjoyed a breakout season, averaging 15.4 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 43.4 percent from three on 8.6 attempts per game.

RE: NBA Trade Rumors (Pistons discussing Drummond trade with Mavs, ATL, and others) - StepBackJay - 01-06-2020

Bog for Kuz would be a huge get for Lakers, I am afraid that's going to happen. Bog fits the Lakers better.

For the Mavs, a Tony Snell move would be great if Pistons just want to shed his salary. I think as others have said his salary *should fit in the TE? He was underrated I thought in Milwaukee bc they were so stacked last year. Mavs would get another expiring contract they could flip next year. I think having multiple sizable expirings could be beneficial in 2020 as teams ramp up for 2021. Snell is money from 3. If Mavs could get Snell for just TE then they still have the Lee contract to flip for a big (ala Thompson type).

I don't think Curry is going anywhere absent a blockbuster deal. No reason we can't add to this roster without taking away.

Interesting idea, I like it. How about without Wright? JJ and Brunson and perhaps a couple of second rounders for Rose and Wood?
