I feel the same way. I do like it as a fall back option though. This is the type of offer we have worked out pre-draft. Look for something better if someone falls to 10. If we take the fall back option route i would also entertain trading down again for more assets. Regardless we need to make a selection in the 1st rd and add a player to keep. The good teams build from the draft and it doesn’t have to be a top pick. Bam and MPJ were both selected 14th.

We could do worse than Collins plus Lively at 15. A smart MLE choice and it would be a successful offseason(assuming Kyrie stays)

Well, several older prospects who I liked decided to go back to school.

Mavs lack a second round pick, but I was watching Jaylen Clark from UCLA. He had an Achilles injury that put him out of the tournament. I don't think it was a torn Achilles. He is not a great shooter and not a eye opening athlete, but he gets his hands on some many balls on defense. Could be an interesting name. Due to his age and maybe some uncertainty on his injury, could be an interesting late draft guy.

Outside of Leonard Miller, Coulibaly looks like the other prospect likely to have the best career of players available at 10. Wouldn’t mind that pick at all. He’s playing well in the Euroleague playoffs, which is massively higher in quality than the NCAA. He has athleticism, skill, and a massive, massive wingspan.

Trade down scenario for Coulibaly isn´t happening.

It’s the Mavs.

OKC will trade ahead of us to take him. He will become a star. Later Cuban will say we were going to take him…

In all seriousness, the guy looks incredible. Would be thrilled if we draft him.

+41

Capela and getting 15 back

vs

Allen, Okongwu, Claxton and no draft pick coming back

Ok with either.

Ayton and Collins are sort of my last place options among the ones mentioned. Both are talented but I dont think either wants to play the role the Mavericks need.

Agree with all of this.  More than anything we need a high level defensive center that wont kill you on offense.  Ayton and Collins are overpaid offensive bigs that are ok on defense.  Not the right fits, especially at their salaries.

As far as I’ve seen only Dick and Hawkins have had visits among players projected in the area of 10.  We have a type or we have a head-fake.

He is probably not high on their "hope he is there list", but I also don't want to minimize his skill level.  He is certainly deserving to go in the range we are picking.

He is a big kid.  Better athlete then most think.   He stepped into one of the top teams in the country as a freshman and immediately was one of their best players.    The question is whether he a very good shooter or one of those special great shooters?   If he is one of those great shooters, you can make a case he should go higher than 10.

Trade down scenario for Coulibaly isn´t happening.

Kid has the most upside of anyone in the draft.  Runs like a deer up and down the court, has ball handling ability, elite athletism and a developing shot.

I can't believe this kid is 230 lbs already, at 6'6".  He has an NBA body already with the ability to add to it.

For reference everyone was fanning over Cam Whitmore and he is 235 lbs at almost the same height.

Coulibaly fans, if you could link me to the best scouting video I would appreciate it!

I’m looking all over for something official and recent about Coulibaly’s measurements. I used to seen 6’6 190. But have seen some comments that’s he’s still growing and now is 6’8 230 with a 7’3 wingspan. If those measurements are right, he has to be the number 10 pick if there and probably higher, much higher. I don’t think he’ll make it to 10.

There aren't really good scouting breakdown videos of him considering he wasn't really on NBA or even French league radar until recently after a huge growth spurt.

Since, he has been following the training regimen of Wemby and has started coming into his own.  All the tools you can see in his highlights.

It's really hard to tell what his actually weight is but his lower body is were he is carrying it.  His upper body is were this kid will likely grow the most as he has a wiry frame.

All of these lottery prospects have what it takes to reach an elite level.  The difference is always from the neck up.  How much work they are willing to put in after they get life changing money will determine their future.  The Mavs need to have a good plan to assess that.

The 230 lbs looks like an obvious mistake.  He's still really skinny when you watch the highlights from their recent playoff game.  He looks like he weighs 200 lbs or less.  Great potential but definitely still a scrawny kid.

Interesting article comparing Black and Wallace. For me, Black fit the current Dallas roster well. I am less sure about Wallace. Just makes us really small. So my question is, can you build a well fitting roster if you keep Kyrie and still have Jaden and Green? For me, Jaden is a long term piece here and struggle how they all fit here if you draft Wallace.

Wallace would fit great with the rest if Kyrie leaves.
