RE: DRAFT: Nov 18, 6pm | DAL #18 & #31 | 'strong desire' to trade up | Hal & SBey workout - khaled1987 - 11-18-2020 I am gonna talk serious for first time in past few days in this thread. It was few days ago that someone here said Mavs banking on the draft might be their best bet, and I absolutely agree. If you want to keep Luka long term, the best strategy is to get him a younger sidekick, or at least someone who is a year older at most, but you feel comfortable with his durability, KP doesn't fit the description. Otherwise you will always risk the possibility of losing Luka for a team with better and younger sidekick, or turning into another Lebron/Cavs team who improved too early and failed to get him an elite young sidekick. Obviously that is the worst case scenario and Mavs front office is better than that. My point is, we need a Klay to Curry, or Manu to Duncan type of addition. Those were the 2 most stable dynasties in this century. Those are the ones we hope to emulate That is extremely difficult, no doubt about it If the Mavs feels comfortable about someone, that he is the really the "One" they they should go all in and deal with the consequences. If they ,for example, if they agree with @"Kammrath" that Hayes is future superstar, and he will cost some important players like DFS or Maxi etc, then go all in for it. If they feel there is someone they like at 18, don't risk it to move down unless you are 100% sure of who you want will be available. This is likely our last draft in the Luka era that we will have top 20 pick, plus a high 2nd and some role players to spare as trading asset. Don't be too afraid. Regarding of who we pick, I like many and I think when it is all said and done it will be remembered as good draft. Judging by history: Mavs loves guards who handles the ball, and international player. Judging by current style of play we appreciate shooting as most important skill, and we have focused on shooting with our workouts. My favourites for moving up even if it cost one of our role -non Luka/KP- players: Haliburton: I have him as my number one prospect, I think he actually have a chance to be drafted there. He is one of those who check most boxes, who will fit every team regardless of who they have or what type of game they are running. A jack of all trades, but also master of many. The biggest issue with him is whether his shooting will translate as he has this awkward mechanics. If he isn't picked top 8 and we had a chance to move up, I want it. Isaac Okoro: A swiss army knife, not a great shooter but excels in everything else, he will be that rare kind of players, who is a star "glue guy" in contender, the Iggy/Draymond type of players. Won't trade anyone for him tbh, but might accept. If he falls out of 10 and team want 2nd round and/or Brunson for him, I would consider it. Onyeka Okongwu: Perfect fit for PF spot, especially if we realize that Giannis is indeed re-signing, and that Bucks aren't just crazy who is gambling all without promise. He will add a lot of defense but also offense. But just like Okoro he is a situational case, if out of top 10 for some reason I would put Brunson. Killian Hayes: Kam really convinced me with him, if Mavs share same views, he is a must get at any price not named Luka/KP. PS: For me I think Brunson is our most likely movable asset, I really like him but he is a back up PG for us, which is easily replaceable, OTOH many teams could see him as a good starting PG for them in a year or two. So higher value for others than Mavs Players to combine 18 + 31 and even future 2nd for: Nesmith: elite shooter. Devin Vassell: 3 & D player Saddiq Bey: Very good fit at 4 for us Players at 18, other than the aforementioned players: Aleksej Pokuševski: I am warming up to the idea of him tbh. He is the high risk high reward player. His measurements is known late in the draft but is super impressive, sort of like what happened with KP in 2015, he has grown up in Serbia, and we know that the former Yugoslavia seems like it holds the future of basketball atm, they put ton of emphasis on fundamentals and feel for the game, at 14 moved to Greece in one of its best academies, his raw tools are just impressive. He seems like that type of guy that either teams regretting passing on, or regret selecting. Theo Maledon: One of the best passers in the draft IMO, high IQ and capable scorer at the same time, is the type of player who if succeeded will be perfect fit next to Luka. Defense is suspect but he has the tools. Tyrell Terry: Elite shooter, decent passer, can be second ball handler and play off the ball. Defense is suspect. I honestly think he will end up in the lottery, but mock drafts disagree. 2nd round targets: Desmond Bane: High IQ shooter. Leandro Bolmaro: Great passer and ball handler, but really not sold on him. Immanuel Quickley: Great shooter, potential back up PG, and I have something for Callipari guys. Udoka Azubuike: Decent big that could be the next Mitchel Robinson type of guy Cassius Winston: He screams Mavs pick, I am one of his few fans PS: I also concede that half the names in my list will be no bodies that we will all forgot they exist in 3 years from now RE: DRAFT: Nov 18, 6pm | DAL #18 & #31 | 'strong desire' to trade up | Hal & SBey workout - Fuerza1 - 11-18-2020 (11-18-2020, 11:09 AM)cjeter24 Wrote:(11-18-2020, 08:51 AM)ClutchDirk Wrote: The Chicago Bulls have reportedly discussed a trade that would send center Wendell Carter Jr. and the No. 4 overall pick to the Golden State Warriors for the No. 2 selection in the 2020 NBA draft Wednesday night. According to Clutchdirk's quote, Chicago's play is James Wiseman, not LeCello Ball. That would be a coup from CHI, Wiseman is the #1 prospect by a long shot imo. But wonder why GS would pass on him considering they need a big, and Wiseman > WCJ (who is a good starter in his own right). Yeah I read the quote. I don't think that's the play. Everything has been connecting them to a playmaker and out of the blue now they are in on Wiseman? And they trade a decent young center prospect to do it? Seems like a smokescreen. I really hope not that we draft Mourinho to be the new coach. Too much drama! But on other hand maybe we indeed could use some of that fight spirit he has, either in the coaching and/or the new players. RE: DRAFT: Nov 18, 6pm | DAL #18 & #31 | 'strong desire' to trade up | Hal & SBey workout - HanspardsShowerVoice - 11-18-2020 My big takeaway is that Bulls new FO does not like Wendall Carter at all and just see him as a throwaway piece because he's not much more than Greg Monroe. For some reason, I just get the feeling that the Warriors like Avidja. He just fits their culture and they don't need him to a great shooter right away. They want a hardworker with upside talent who can grow into the next star when their current older stars age out. RE: DRAFT: Nov 18, 6pm | DAL #18 & #31 | 'strong desire' to trade up | Hal & SBey workout - Fuerza1 - 11-18-2020 I think this draft sucks for potential all-star talents but solid bench pieces are right there, Mavs have a great opportunity to select 2 of them tonight. IMO, Jalen Smith, Desmond Bane, Saddiq Bey, or Precious Achiuwa are the best outcomes at #18. I only trade up for Devin Vassel or Patrick Williams. At #31, a lot of intriguing options, and it depends on what they do at #18 but my fav guys are Elijah Hughes, Xavier Tillman, Robert Woodard or Jordan Nwora. Would not be surprised if a guy like Josh Green falls down here, there's always a couple surefire 1st rounders that slide into the 2nd. I agree he is a warriors pick. His ball handling and versatility is something they really do not have and could really use. The Warriors are truly blessed as they can be really flexible unlike the other lottery teams. They could really build a lot of assets by trading down and get deeper RE: DRAFT: Nov 18, 6pm | DAL #18 & #31 | 'strong desire' to trade up | Hal & SBey workout - JamesConway - 11-18-2020 (11-18-2020, 10:48 AM)JamesConway Wrote: https://twitter.com/DraftExpress/status/1329088685120229384?s=20
