I mean, if @"Kammrath" is correct and the drop off in talent happens at around 16, I wonder if you could even get to 15 with 31.

I guess it depends on the team and how much they like 18 and 31.

a)  The Mavs want someone who can help carry the offensive workload from Luka who can act as both a ballhandler/distributor and can also play off ball and spot up shoot well when asked.    Followell assumed this would be more of a combo guard type, but supposed a point forward like Hayward could fit that bill as well.

b) With Giannis probably staying in 2021, there's nothing to wait for.  Let's get it going.    Mavs need to take the next step from where they left off ... host a playoff series, advance into the next round and beyond.  No need to place an articificial ceiling here.  He thinks this is the mindset in the building.  OKC and HOU probably decline, so it's time for the Mavs to move up the ladder.

c)  A 3D Wing makes the most sense at #18 if they keep the pick.  Bey, Green, Nesmith all fit the bill.  Mavs need someone who can switch on the perimeter and they shot the 2nd most 3s of any team in the NBA last year, and that's not going to change.

d)  Mavs know they need a Deshawn Stevenson.  Luka and KP arent the ones who should be getting in people's faces and risking ejections or suspensions.

Good stuff, thanks for posting.

What I would like to see tonight from the picks we keep:
1. Pick someone who is ready to contribute, if only for 10-15 minutes. Like Brunson was 2 years ago. No draft and stash, please, especially not with #18
2. Cuban to spend the 5 million (either to buy picks or as a trade incentive). Show max commitment!

That is a stupid good, ELITE standing reach. Was not expecting that.

Someone is going to swing for him based on measurements alone.

Let me be clear:

I think the growing media/fan consensus is centering on a cut off around 15-16 players.

I personally DO NOT agree with that and think the draft is quite flat all the way through (within reason).

I think the Mavs will have guys like Maledon, TBey, etc (THAT I LOVE) that will be there at 18....but those same guys could be there in the late 20s....so maybe you trade back if they feel none of the teams will take those guys.

I expect the fan faves of SBey, Hampton, Nesmith, Achiuwa, etc. to be off the board at 18....though you never know.

EXPECT CHAOS tonight. CHAOS. It is going to be hella fun....I think.

@"KillerLeft" this explains the inability of the Celtics to trade up....they are aiming TOP 3 by just sticking 14, 26, 30 together.....yeah no way, going to have to add a real player to that.

If a ball-handler doesn't go to Chicago at #4, then it's very possible.

Whose standing reach is 9'4"??

What 5 guys have the best arm to height ratio?
Crazy how much that one feature will end up being the main factor in success

Certainly not at 18 and not in this year.

Besides, he needs to seriously bulk up and it's not a given he's the same player afterward.

It turns out the ratio is not that important....what is important is length in general. Long wingspans and long standing reach just give a big advantage whether you are 6'0" or 7"2"
