RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - KillerLeft - 05-20-2025 (05-19-2025, 11:48 PM)Razzmatazz_Hopskidillydoo Wrote: I'd like a trade for Giddey but at this point, the Bulls would think twice even if the Mavs offered them AD. That’s helpful context. I normally watch a lot of other teams games and try to keep up with the league at large as much as possible, but this season I checked out of the entire spot in mid-February (I think something happened around them, but can’t remember exactly what) and was unaware of how the end of his season went in the CHI. Am I to take it that this is why everyone is assuming Coby White will be moved? RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Knutsen - 05-20-2025 (05-19-2025, 10:07 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: Is Tyus Jones bad, all of a sudden, or is PHX just a dumpster fire? What about Tre Jones from the Bulls, who was with the Spurs before? He‘s a free agent, 25 years old, his stats after the trade to the Bulls look nice, he was defensive player of the year in college although he‘s smallish, and went to Duke like half our team - have never really watched him play, could he be worth taking a flier? His stats in a limited sample size where 11.5 points, 4.9 assists, 0.8 turnovers, 1.1 steals on 57% from the field in 25 minutes. I think the opportunity to start at least half a season on a really good time should be quite attractive to younger guys looking to establish themselves and showcase their skills, shouldn’t it? Him and his brother are both names to consider. Tyus was the better player. He was one of the better backups while in Memphis. Although his stay in Washington was uneventful and the Suns fans were not crazy about him. Probably just a good backup for the right type of team. Tre Jones is similar and is probably the odd man out in Chicago. Seems to be positioned as a backup as well. It will be really interesting to see what the teams thinks about Brandon Williams. Was he just a neat story last year or does the team have hopes he could be a real rotation level player? It is just really hard to be a rotation level player. He is a little small and from the looks of it, Kidd and Nico want big, physical players. He is also 26, I believe. Wondering if someone is a legit rotation for a good team (hopefully) is not dislike. It is just really hard to earn those spots. He plays defense, had a 40% 3-ball, not many TOs. Is there some reason why he shouldn't be in the rotation every night? We need playmakers and I'm all for adding one. I just don't see many out there better than him if we take last year's stats as his baseline. I mean Tyus Jones isn't any bigger. Personally, I did not view him as a legit player last year or the beginning of this past year. So he really surprised me. I thought he was excellent in the stretch last year. Last year was so hard though to get a grip of things. Mavs were so beat up and lacked guys who could dribble. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - vfromlmf - 05-20-2025 Here's an interesting target. Unrestricted free agent Ty Jerome Placed 3rd in Sixth Man of the Year voting. Reminds me a little bit of Manu Ginobili https://theswishtheory.com/nba/2024/12/ty-jerome-late-bloomer/ RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Winter - 05-20-2025 (05-20-2025, 08:38 AM)vfromlmf Wrote: Here's an interesting target. Unrestricted free agent Ty Jerome I love the guy statistically. He's a UFA that probably wouldn't require a hefty contract. On the other hand, you'd like to have a real veteran on the floor with Flagg. Jerome is probably not that guy. Maybe Chris Paul and Jerome. He had an injury-riddled season with Toronto before being traded to NO in the Brandon Ingram deal. He's just 28, so he can bounce back. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Smitty - 05-20-2025 Not my favorite person in Twitter but I like this idea from Gunn: Potential scenarios to get DAL under the 2nd apron on draft night: BKN receives: Jaden Hardy DAL receives: pick No. 27 > rookie scale for pick 27 is $2.3M which would net DAL to roughly $240K below the 2nd apron and open up the ability to aggregate players in a trade. > BKN has an abundance of picks in this draft (8, 19, 26, 27, 36), D-Lo/Cam Thomas/De’Anthony Melton are all free agents this summer, and BKN originally tried to get Hardy included in the Kyrie deal. With only 9 players on their roster going into next season and only 2 of them being guards, there would be plenty of minutes for Hardy to take his game to the next level at a very low hit to the books. DET receives: Jaden Hardy DAL receives: pick No. 37, MIL 2027 2nd > DET has the most cap space this summer and after their leap this past season, I suspect they will be looking to retain some of their vets and look to round out their roster around Cade. DET also has lots of young guys still looking to permanently solidify their spot in the rotation leaving little to no consistent minutes available for a current year 2nd round pick. Hardy is someone who has shot-creation skills, a need on the Piston’s bench. > Also worth noting that Dennis Schroeder, Malik Beasley, and Tim Hardaway Jr. are all free agents this summer leaving Cade, Ivey, and Sasser as the only guards remaining. Hardy’s flat $6M salary over the next 3 years (team option in year 3) would be an inexpensive, low-risk addition to DET financial picture. Hardy could be a great addition to another team, but really doesn't have a role here with his matador defense. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - HoosierDaddyKid - 05-20-2025 (05-20-2025, 11:48 AM)Smitty Wrote: Not my favorite person in Twitter but I like this idea from Gunn: Beasley will probably be re-signed. He has Detroit ties and wants to stay. Hardy was born and raised there. But i don't see them trading for Hardy, who's a one-trick pony. They have Ivey, who's much better. THJ, they'll probably let walk. After last season's success, I can see them going in another direction. They need a number 2 option, a wing that can shoot 3's and get his own shot to pair with Cade. I don't see them trying to hit a home run, all in move at this point. They aren't quite there yet. They need to continue to develop Thompson and Holland as good defensive wings who need to improve their shooting. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - ACMFFL - 05-20-2025 I love these trades but I don't think Hardy has that kind of value. I'd be happy even if we just dump him into capspace for free. IF he can net anything more than that, I'm all for it. Hardy has no value at the moment. Someone might take him for free. I’d probably just keep him and see if he can be rehabilitated. He’s a project who’s actually gotten much worse from his rookie season. I’m afraid that maybe the Mavs added too much to his developmental plate. Maybe he’s just a spot up shooter who can occasionally attack the basket and not a guy you train to set up other players. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Chicagojk - 05-22-2025 I saw Laura Gunn ( I think that is her name) make a case for Cole Anthony the other day. Zach Lowe mentioned a few weeks ago that he thinks Orlando has to upgrade their center position. He didn't think Carter does enough. So how about Gafford for Cole Anthony and # 16. Orlando needs a point guard/shooting though so they may want to use #16 in a different way. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Chicagojk - 05-22-2025 (05-20-2025, 05:54 PM)ThisIStheYear Wrote: Yep. A chance of scenery will probably be good for him. I think he would have been moved at the trade deadline if they could have gotten anything for him. I think Kidd was ready to move on. One thing I want to note, is the Mavs basically have good players on good contracts. Even the players who may have a questionable contract is not terrible. I hope they continue this and don't take a terrible contract. Having good players on solid deals should be a real positive...even if some of these players are only role players. |
