If Indiana gets a home court advantage,  RC should get COY easily tbh, don't see any other candidates tbh.

Honestly happy for the past Mavs, especially RC who gave us a lot as a coach and at least was willing to move on when he felt time is right

RE: AROUND the NBA: Kyrie Irving returns from suspension| Bane Injured - Chicagojk - 11-26-2022

The Mavs have taken a step back, but that could change.  I think it is important to remember that almost every team has had some very questionable losses.   Last night the Wolves lost to the Hornets.  I had no idea the Wolves have climbed back over .500.   I am sure their fans view this season similar to the Mavs fans.    I just feel like the Mavs have not had many great performances in their wins.   Even when they win close games if feels like pulling teeth and leaves me feeling frustrated despite a fun win.

Even if the Mavs took a step back, it would be much more enjoyable if DFS, Bullock, Hardaway, Dinwiddie were all playing well.   It would at least give some hope.   I am confident DFS will be on track as the season progresses.   Bullock I am less certain, but that at least has been his history.  I have no idea on Hardaway and am uncertain if Dinwiddie is a long time starter here.

I don't think we have the assets but I wonder if a front court pairing of Turner, Wood and Maxi would work?  Keeping two on the court most times.  And then try to find a diamond in the rough for another creator.   The 6'8 to 6'9 wings are tougher to find but maybe with good scouting you can find the 6'5 ish guy (1-2 of these guys).   For instance a Tyus Jones and Lu Dort types.

Here's a odd rumor.

RUMOR: Mavs, Clippers linked to potential trade for Pistons’ young stud (msn.com)

It would be kinda redundant to me to have Wood and Turner on the floor at the same time because their games are similar in stretching the floor. Turner is the better defender, no question.  Maybe, it works, but I'm skeptical.

You think having multiple bigs who can stretch the floor is a bad thing? 5 out is a very good thing in my opinion, a big rotation of Maxi/Turner/Wood would be great but it’s unattainable unless you completely mortgage the future.

It's not even a whisper, just pure speculation. They are not even able to say the teams have TALKED about such a trade!!

"Sources told Hoops Wire that the Wizards, Clippers and Mavericks may be among the teams interested in Bey, though could not confirm if any have actually contacted the Pistons."

The team tried to do a better job of keeping Cuban classy during the Brunson episode (as compared to past episodes like Nash and DJ v1.0), but I can't imagine Turner to CAA is helpful to the Dallas cause if Dallas is indeed interested.  BTW, Josh Green is a CAA player.

One thing to note, you can't presume agents with most favored nation status will be the same under Nico as they were under Nelson.  McGee and Dorsey are both Wasserman guys.  That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but is probably something to watch.

Bey is a Schwartz guy as are Kemba, Cunningham and Bagley.  He is extension eligible this summer.  So, if they want to trade him it is probably because they don't want to extend him.  Are we sure we want him.  His calling card was supposed to be D, but I don't see any real evidence that he's a good defender.  His 3% is declining rapidly and he's a VERY willing shooter (same shot attempts per minute as THJ).  Schwartz does a pretty nice job of moving guys from teams where the opportunity is limited to teams where there is a greater opportunity (to get paid).  Bey can put it on the floor and get to the hold and does pass some.  So, there is probably some offensive upside there.

I'm not a huge fan of this unless Michigan star Hardaway is part of the deal.  But, once you include a salary that large, the trade matching becomes difficult...especially if you consider Detroit really doesn't need any of our bigs.  Count me more intrigued than anxious and dubious that there is an easy trade match unless we end up with both Bey and THJ (which I don't really want)

I get what you're saying, but who protects the paint, Maxi?  I think injuries have kinda caught up to him, and he has not been as good as in the past.  Turner is the better rim-protector out of the three. 5 out is the flavor of the month for now. You still need paint points periodically. That's just my take.

How is 5-out preventing you from getting points in the paint? It can be really helpful. Better spacing makes it a lot easier for guards and wings to penetrate. Opens driving and cutting lanes. Increases the distance defenders have to cover. Making it more difficult to double or help.

Maybe you're right. I guess I see it differently.  But looking at that Boston game, they were dominate in the paint. When 3's aren't falling, you need other ways to score.  At some point, you have to shut down the lane from dribble penetration.  I get that the same penetration opens up kick-outs to shooters.
