This is literally the only thing I am worried about, at this point. Everyone else was focused on the downside of holiday, but I had no trouble seeing the upside of that one. There is a world in which Beal might start to look pretty good to the front office, and that’s what should terrify us.

In reality, as those guys reiterate, he was on to something: 3 dudes that could dribble competently.  A lot of that was on display in the playoffs/finals.  Initiator, wings, and bigs--3 of which with the ability to handle the ball well (and protect it).  I just don't see ANY starting caliber ball handlers on the roster other than Kyrie.  Hopefully, Flagg is one.  More importantly, there are ZERO starting caliber initiators with Kyrie out.  Long story short, I am really puzzled at the current roster construction and am super curious where our beloved GM is going with all this.  I am really, really worried about spacing.  I think we are looking at losing a lot of games 82-67 as we stand right now.  Kind of like the Rangers.  Best pitching, worst batting.  The Mavs will be awesome on D but can't score to save their life.  Opponents will crowd the paint and let these guys stand around until someone has to clank a 3 as the shot clock runs down.

I could kiss you on the mouth right now.

Even Nico isn't that stupid (and that's saying a lot). I wish Nico would be fired yesterday so we don't have to even think about such stupidity as if it would be a possibility.

There's no way for Beal to make any sense in the lineup as a Mav, or to construct a trade that is legal for both teams, so that it looks good for the Mavs.

The New Orleans Pelicans are trading CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick to the Washington Wizards for Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and the No. 40 pick, sources tell ESPN.

What a big bag of nothing! This has to be about money, because nothing else looks like much.

Shams followed up with a tweet that with McCollum expiring, the Wizards will have 100 million in cap room in 26.   Now will anyone take it?

Not sure what the Pelicans are doing?

I kind of like it for New Orleans. Poole and Bey can be pieces. They are another team like Portland that i can see being in that play-in 7-10 range if all goes well.

Moving on from Poole (and Kuzma before him) should open up thousands of extra shots for the kids.  Obviously, I don't know any of them, but McCollum and Olynyk seem like good locker room guys in the near term and good trade assets potentially at the TDL.  #6, Sarr, Coulibaly, Carrington and another Top 5 pick next year and $100 million of space is a pretty good start toward a rebuild.  Just need to hit on one of the kids at some point.

Yeah, NO actually is always on the edge of having a promising team, but it all hinges in Zion who keeps crapping the bed.

Besides Zion, some nice pieces already - Murray, Herb Jones, Murphy, Missi, and they will have a top 10 pick. This was an old-for-young move, by adding Poole and Bey to fill in some of the holes instead of older guys. But whether it means anything all depends on Zion, they are subject to his limits.

But what is WAS doing? Are they seeing themselves as making a jump? Yeah they have lots of possible cap room next summer, but are they going to try to win now (if they can) with a veteran core of Middleton, CJ Mc, and Olynyk?

Washington will still be one of the worst teams imho, but those vets could turn the curve a bit. Install a bit of knowledge what it takes to win. Until they are all traded at one point during the season or before it even starts. Poole was a joke of the league and Washington didn't have a future with him. Doesn't seem like a winning player at all. Same was with Kuzma. Two guys that should play hard and install a culture were acting like clowns most of the time.

Washington problem is that they keep drafting meh guys. Sarr was a dissapointment in a weak draft class. Coulibaly didn't show any real progress (perhaps they should stop drafting raw french guys). Carrington, AJ Johnson and George (all drafted last season) were average at best.

Cap space has value. More than meh players on meh deals. I don't think the goal is to bring in stars.

You dare question the decisions of a franchise that won 50+ games a mere 46 years ago???  Wink

So KP makes 30, so they can't use this for him right?

[Charania] Atlanta has a massive $25.3 million dollar trade player exception. I’m told they’re really likely to use that exception, either get a game-changing player or pick up players with salaries and get assets with that as well.

RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Scott41theMavs - 06-24-2025

KP to Atl. Don't know the details.

RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Smitty - 06-24-2025

BREAKING: Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta's No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics.

RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Chicagojk - 06-24-2025

Nets now have 5 first round picks. No way they keep all. What do they do with them?

So Porzingis is still worth freak all. Good we cleared that up.

RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Jym - 06-24-2025

so the Nets got the 22nd pick just for taking on Terance Mann and his $15.5 mil a year?
feels like just a couple years ago he was being hyped as the Clippers' future

RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Jym - 06-24-2025

Now we just need the Celtics to trade the 28th pick

If Nico was looking to cut salary and was in Brad's role, how many picks do you think are outgoing? over/under 2.5?
