But it could be a week or so sooner given the ASB is included in that. Powell is still out until after the ASB, but there is no update on his timing. AD is out for at least another 3 weeks (ASB + 2) although some adductor rehab info predicts longer recoveries. Lively is "to be evaluated" around Feb 23rd, but as of Feb 13th he was still in a boot. Just a random thought, but are these big man injuries a result of having to defend in space with the current 5-out offenses? Quick lateral movements, lots of stops and starts, more directional changes all put a lot of stress on the lower body that could be increased by body length and that more traditional bigs didn't have to deal with "back in the day". I definitely think there is something to this. I have heard the argument that we need to play somebody at the 4 (like KP) so they don't take on the wear and tear of playing the 5, but I think its more taxing and potentially injury inducing to chase around perimeter players for these guys than it is to bang with bigs. Isn't it though? Funny how that works. Now we don't have everyone spread out on the 3 point line waiting for something to happen. We have movement, guys having fun out there, hard nosed defense. I'm becoming more and more impressed with Kidd. I'm an old school run the ball and stop the run kind of guy. That gritty physical play wins games. Finesse players don't want to stick their nose in there when they get it hit a time or two. Kidd has these guys playing the right way. |
