RE: 2025 draft thread: THE MAVS WIN THE 1ST PICK - Chicagojk - 06-17-2025 They aren't getting Kessler. The other two and maybe a few others are possible. Although, Lakers walk into things. Capela would be a decent short term backup, I think. “Sources close to the team reiterated that the internal plan is to trade for their starting center – sources say they've held conversations with other teams about Nic Claxton, Robert Williams, Walker Kessler and others – then, ideally, use the taxpayer midlevel on his backup – Brook Lopez and Clint Capela are the two names most often linked to the Lakers. It's a solid plan that they're considered likely to be able to execute.” RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - HoosierDaddyKid - 06-17-2025 (06-17-2025, 03:58 PM)Ghost of Podkolzin Wrote: I still don't understand the ORL backcourt. Who's at the point? Pretty sure it'll be Suggs, maybe Black. With Bane at the two guard. He has been good on Suns stuff, but I have to imagine he is being played by the Suns. No way Toronto is offering that right? I may have doubts the rockets are the best offer. I am not sure I get the Minny offer. Gobert has his faults and I could see KD being an upgrade, but their defense falls off a cliff when Naz is the center. Not sure how Gobert really changes PHX upside either. Maybe makes them better. Maybe not. I am just not buying it. Sorry. The Timberwolves current trade proposal for Kevin Durant, per @Gambo987 - Rudy Gobert - Donte Divenchenzo - Rob Dillingham and/or Terrance Shannon Jr - 17th pick RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - HoosierDaddyKid - 06-17-2025 (06-17-2025, 05:39 PM)Chicagojk Wrote: Neither are a point guard, but I think more teams are going this direction. It's not ideal, but Bane wasn't bad, and improved his playmaking quite a bit. Sorry. The Wolves would surely fall apart in such a deal. For all the flak Gobert gets, he’s the only dude making them a passable defensive team. Without him, they’re stuck with Naz Reid and Julius Randle. Which just isn’t a strong enough center rotation honestly. Conley Edwards Durant Randle Reid Interesting lineup. Feels like there are too many guys looking for their own shot there though. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - RoyTarpleysGhost - 06-17-2025 Min needs an upgrade at PG. Conley is ancient. Need to make Edwards life easier. I don’t understand why they’re pursuing Durant especially since he supposedly doesn’t want to play for them. I don’t understand why they’re pursuing Durant especially since he supposedly doesn’t want to play for them. Wonder if it's an effort at a stealth rebuild. Maybe after two consecutive losses in the WCF they've decided this interation of the team has run its course. Trade Rudy (and his remaining years) for KD and you can still sell that you're trying to win but in reality you've cleared some space if KD doesn't resign (which hey, not our fault, we tried to convince him, etc). At that point it might be more palatable to "start" the rebuild even though that was the plan all along. Just spitballing, could be way off. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - FireNicoHarrison - 06-18-2025 Just a fool trade for Rudy PO unplayable Gobert. Minny had a great chance this year, they give it all away trading KAT and not that useless French tower. You won't get everything you need in a PG with what's available, but Sexton really helps on the perimeter. He won't be your best defender for sure, but I'm not sure that's the priority for the Mavs at that position. He can get his own shot, move the ball around, and won't need to be a starter once Kyrie is back. RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Smitty - 06-18-2025 (06-18-2025, 01:09 PM)Winter Wrote: I actually could see Sexton in this Mavs lineup. Would be a good get for the Mavs. He's in the same boat as Gafford, likely wanting to get an extension done. The Mavs could go the 1-year rental route if they wanted, but I think he can coexist with Kyrie and/or be a Jet type 6th man here 'long-term'. If the Mavs are dead set on keeping Gafford, even if Gafford+Hardy is a near perfect salary match, I could see something like Martin+Hardy+Powell being part of the framework for a deal. I still believe Martin was acquired at the TDL just to be traded this summer. Grimes didn't help in that regard. Makes $18,975,000 next season, but counts $500k more against the apron. Is UFA in 26. If you were trying to do an agent a favor, giving his client a featured role on a good team for the first half of the season and then letting him have a large role off the bench afterwards would certainly do that. Plays absolutely no D, but hits his 3's and can get you into your offense. His assist % has been pretty high the last two seasons. I've long thought of Sexton as a really good bench combo guard (and a really bad starting lead guard). If you tell me this gets done with Martin, Hardy and OMax, I'm all for it. I wonder instead if it might be Martin, Christie and OMax? Is there a world in which that also gets us Utah's late first? RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - SleepingHero - 06-18-2025 (06-18-2025, 01:09 PM)Winter Wrote: I actually could see Sexton in this Mavs lineup. Sexton also loves to call his own number, at the detriment to his team at times. He’s a 100% hustle dude. But I’m not shocked every team he’s been on hardly felt he’s a keeper at any point. Paying Gafford for that is just a non starter for me RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Chicagojk - 06-18-2025 There has been talk Utah may draft the Texas guard. So there is a good chance Sexton is moved. They have some other younger guards. Clarkson could be moved too. He could be another name to monitor. Although the fit is a little tricky there. I think Sexton has a chance to be a pretty good player on a good team or the right team. He is not a guy to raise a team from poor to decent or good to great. The question is if he is willing to take on that role? A lesser role. I am not sure what his market will be. Last year on a contract. Smaller guard. Looking for his next contract. May be best as a high usage bench guard. Gafford is probably equal in value. Just not sure I would move Gafford for him. I am definately out if Utah is asking for more. Also, Utah would not have any interest in Gafford so it would need to be a three team trade. Martin, Christie, and Omax for Sexton and Utah's 21st pick. I'd give that some serious thought. You might find Clayton, maybe Coward ....or someone falls through the cracks. Wolves (to compete for play-in) The 3rd trade offer just turns you into Minnesota without Randle, McDaniels. Reid and NAW. At least Barrett could take another step forward and his salary is value. Poetl just two years left. Okay just saw that the Quickley salary. That is just gross. WTF. ![]() RE: Trade & FA 2025-26: - Ghost of Podkolzin - 06-18-2025 (06-18-2025, 02:11 PM)Winter Wrote: Martin, Christie, and Omax for Sexton and Utah's 21st pick. Although maybe it is better evening out the roster a tad. Just not sure. |
