Take another team out of the mix. Harden to either Brooklyn or Boston Yeah, for sure. Horford, when played at his natural position of center, is still a good player, imo. I'm not sure he's the best fit in the world with Bagley, but he's probably better there than he was with Embiid, who seems to want very badly to be a face up player. I will leave out picks, though I suspect Indy will end up with at least one pick out of all this. I see Yeah, really think a lot of the Oladipo thirst is from the fact that not many people have a reference point for a quad tendon rupture and how serious it is because it's rare among athletes. It hardly ever happens in young athletes. In the few occasions it happens in the NBA it happens to old players at the end of their careers anyway (Barkley 1999, Tony Parker 2017) so it's not really associated as the career ender anymore than any other common lower leg injury would be for a player at the end of the line. Oladipo is a 6'4" combo guard who's entire game was built around explosion ... if he loses even a fraction of explosion, he loses what made him exceptional. Trade for Danny Green and Millsap MLE would be cheap and give us a fighting chance next year. Green and a future first (OKC owns Miami 2021 1st) for 18, Wright and Jackson would be a good trade for us. We could still get one of “our guys” at 31. Sign 31 with MLE money and use the rest on Millsap Luka/Brunson Hardaway/Curry Green/DFS Millsap/Powell KP/Maxi Boban, Hernangomez(vet min), Temple(vet min), Barea, 31 This is a good team. And with the future 1st we could still make a deal at the deadline and use any “disappointment contracts” as salary matching (i.e. Hardaway plus Miami 1st for rental of Otto Porter) RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - StepBackJay - 11-18-2020 Dipo looked fine to me when he came back, certainly in terms of moving around and athleticism. His shot was off some and didn't look like he was in a rhythm in the bubble but that to me is just rust. I am not worried ab that at all and you have 1 year to see how he fits. I am not sure what the Mavs would give up but I imagine it would be pretty reasonable given that Dipo's stock is low right now. I like the upside of such a move. Let's go ahead and find healthy ones. The problem with Hayward is fans has that "but the new injuries isn't related to old one" attitude which isn't accurate. People need to realize that you can't isolate the health of one area of your body, muscle imbalances and biomechanics are for real. A huge injury like the one Hayward had, might heel, but it might change the balance the body once had, you could get other injuries with the old one seems perfectly healthy, but it doesn't always mean bad luck, it could also mean : I don't have the balance anymore, and I will always get a new injury somewhere. I hope he will be healthy and I am just a pessimistic sob, he is great player and great talent for sure and those players you always wish they are healthy so we can enjoy their talent. I just don't want the Mavs to be the one taking this risk, for me I have a rule that you don't take risk on more than one injury prone player. We have that on KP, that is more than enough for me. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - StepBackJay - 11-18-2020 The Hayward thing to me is a little more risky depending on the length of the contract. I haven't seen a hard connection of Mavs and Hayward, only some media folks pondering. If Hayward was on a 1 yr deal I would like it but then I don't think Hayward wants that. So risk/reward/cost still puts me in the Dipo direction. If he looked fine after his return, Indiana would have a line of suitors a mile long in a league where Jrue Holliday gets an Anthony Davis return. You are nuts, that's not true at all. First of all, he was back on a very small sample size and looked rusty. I am sure teams would like to see more. Furthermore he is expiring, so why would you give up a bunch of assets for an expiring player if you don't know if he will resign? It's already clear that he only wants to play for a contender or big market team so that eliminates a lot of teams right off the bat. The Lakers knew they would keep Davis bc he expressed wanting to be there. They were willing to give up everything bc time was of the essence with Lebron's clock ticking. Jrue's value was depressed some bc of his player option and bc of the Pels refusal to trade him in the west. Even still he got a pretty good haul. He is also clearly a better player than Dipo. The trick is finding healthy players who are also capable of being the 3rd best player on a Championship team who can be viably attained with the Mavs assets.
