I’m sure he lost a lot of respect for Draymond when he stomped Sabonis chest. If a player doesn’t like you, they are not obligated to shake your hand (see one James, Lebron after his final game vs Mem).

That is fair.   Maybe I should have worded it better about limiting second chance points and maybe also getting some of your own.   It is just a morale hit when the Mavs did play good defense but did not secure the rebound.  Those are killers.

If there isn’t, there should also be a clutch rebounding stat. Not getting boards all game but keeping the score close is a Mavs specialty. If we can just get guys that will hunker down in the end and the opposing team to 0-1 attempt at the end of games, we win 80% of the close games we had this year (which was a lot!).

Ha ha...that is true.  For all his antics though, GS needs him.   It is going to be tricky what they do moving forward, but I think they need to keep Green on that team.  He just does too many things.   You can't replicate the things he does either.   Even if his play drops 10-15% the next two years, I just don't think they can let him go.

So what do they do?   Maybe they try to get off Poole's contract?   Looking at their contracts, his sticks out like a sore thumb.   Can they extend Klay at a lower $ amount?   That is a difficult conversation to have, but they have a long history with him.   I think Kuminga eventually turns into a real good player for him.   The issue is he will probably make a jump right before he is ready for an extension.   Tough if he is in the 18-20 million range.

With no Embiid to guard the lane, Boston is putting on a clinic shooting the ball, from 3 and in the paint. Tatum, Brogdon, and Brown can't miss from deep. Philly is getting a throwback game from Harden who has 22 before halftime.

Marcus Smart is everything Dillon Brooks pretends to be.

Rockets Harden is still a thing. One man offense.
@"Mavs2021" is due for another Paul Reed rant. 10pts 13reb. And in stark contrast to all Mavs bigs he can make clutch FTs.

RE: AROUND the NBA: Bud position is "shaky". Celts advance. Rockets like Harden+Middleton - SwisherPrice - 05-01-2023

Reed could be our Looney. But he's probably not "flashy" enough for Cuban so I doubt he's on the radar

Voter fatigue might prevent Jokic from adding another MVP award to his collection but there is no doubt in my mind that he is the best player in the league right now.
Best offense I have seen in my lifetime. Feels like I am watching Dirk vs OKC in 2011 with better passing, ballhandling and rebounding.

Haha. What´s the point. By the time he comes up on Cuban´s FA target list somewhere behind Dieng, Is in Taiwan-Dwight and Should be in Taiwan-Dwight, some other team has already courted him for months, made him feel wanted and then there is still the issue of Philly just matching the full MLE.

It may be too early in the series to count him out, but with this latest groin injury Chris Paul may be done.

Not sure why the Suns would want to be the Nets East, but chances for a Kyrie for CP3/Ayton swap improve by the minute. We can use some of CP3´s "pissed at the world" leadership on Luka even if his on-court value is very limited. Ayton gives us another young piece. You draft a player like Hendricks and you roll with....

Doncic
Hardy
Green
Hendricks
Ayton

...but won´t happen in a million years.

I literally had the same thought to myself watching tonight. Get out of my head!!

Jokic is on another level right now.

Dirk was great in his own way, but I don't think there ever has been another big that even comes close to the Joker's skillset. We're witnessing a treasure and he's must see TV.

RE: AROUND the NBA: CP3 injures groin. Harden drops 45 and steals game 1 - omahen - 05-02-2023

Assuming Phoenix can't turn it around against Denver, they are in a very interesting situation. They have zero assets to trade, no picks and no young players other than Ayton, for whom one might argue, he is overpaid. CP and Durant will be a year older and CP looks done. They have no depth besides their starters. They only have 7 players under contract for next season.

Booker and Durant are untouchable. Ayton has value, but he is also paid max and his production doesn't really reflect his contract. Never shined in playoffs. Seems like he has no dog in him. Still young, but not sure his deal has more than neutral value. Shamet is way overpaid. Payne at 6 mil is a decent back up PG. Wainright is "D-not so good 3" wing at vet min. CP3 contract is team friendly though, as he is only guaranteed 15 mil for next season and zero for the next one. If they don't guarantee his deal, it would allow them to stay under apron and use full MLE. Still, 15 mil of dead money is a lot to just throw away, if you want to contend. 30 mil for CP3 at the stage where he is now, is a big overpay.

As Phoenix has no depth and assets, they can't really trade Ayton without getting a center back. They can't really trade CP3 without getting a replacement pointguard back.

Irving seems like a great replacement for CP3 and Ayton seems like a good option to solve Mavs center issues. Irving+salary filler for CP3 and Ayton seems like a fair deal. However, Phoenix would still need a center and Mavs would need to find at least one secondary ballhandler to replace Irving (I don't think CP3 can fill a starter spot if Mavs want to contend). Mavs still need at least one big wing. As Phoenix has zero assets and Mavs have very limited ones, I think it will be very difficult to fill that holes.

If I am Phoenix, I would trade Ayton for a lesser center and some depth or assets (which would allow to further trade Shamet or CP3).

What i find funny and also depressing at the same time is this:

We look at other teams who appear to have the same financial issues and the same roster issues, yet they find ways to overcome it and add good better players. Just watch, the Suns will find a way to get out of this hole.

Look at what the Lakers did at the trade deadline. That was masterful. They were headed towards outside of play-in range and had the terrible Westbrook contract that everyone ripped them for.

Somehow how they pulled off the Hachimura trade as well as getting Russell, Vanderbilt, and Beasley for Westbrook.

When are we going to make a trade that adds assets and adds talents and not the other way around.
