What is interesting is how are teams priming for 2026 FA going to build their team if all the good players are already locked up?
It is early and things can change, but it appears that LAL in 26 and maybe 27 and LAC in 27 may have a ton of flexibility. Maybe Miami can also get in the picture if they make some moves. Those are 3 of the top 5 preferred locations for a lot of players. Although those teams don't really have the attractive young pieces or good picks if they want to compete now. Those are locations players will be bullish on though.
On the other hand, you have teams filled with draft equity and young pieces who may be more attractive to a team that wants to reset. They are also places that are not player hotspots, for the most part.
The next few years will be interesting. I believe next offseaon there will be more cap room with teams. Although, FA targets are being resigned.
All i ask is for the top 3 picks next year be in the east and hopefully a competant east franchise rises up and makes a smart trade for a player in the west.

Is that a Mavs trade? What do the Warriors want with another shooter in Monk? Mavs on the other hand have the frontcourt depth the Warriors are seeking and need shooting. Monk can also handle the ball.

Is Monk a shooter? He shot 325 from 3 last season and has been trending down for years. He is a quality 6th man, but I don't think that is what we are looking for if trading our frontcourt depth.

1 year less than initially reported but directly in line what we've been speculating on for months. Countdown starts for the Lakers. 2 years is all they have and they basically have until 2027 to build a good team with an already known weak FA class.
Happy for Luka. Hope he gets paid big bucks soon.

Do we need Monk?
Feels like he's a complete version of Jaden Hardy but getting paid 3x as much.
I'd be more interested in Kuminga, but I'm not sure he'd even want to be here given he's trying to become a superstar with his own team.

I'd prefer Christie and Thompson over Monk. Christie because he has some upside as a 2-way contributor, and Klay because he's an actual good shooter.

So who is ready for a full year of talk of the Lakers getting Giannis for two firsts and Rui? Ha. It will probably happen too. Even with Reaves that is a bottom level offer imo. Dallas could beat that pretty easily as could a lot of teams. We shall see. There is no doubt there are going to be teams gearing up for a Giannis trade. It may not happen this year but the smart money is that he will eventually want to be moved imo.

That is a lot of money for Fox. Spurs are positioned great though. Although, I will be wary of comparing this FO to the Spurs championship FO. They need to prove it. So far, they have made a good decision drafting Wemby
and getting two more top 5 picks. They have been pretty shotty the last 5 or so years, even if they should have a bright future.

The Mavs stuff has to be moved to a team with cap room (or some other flexibility to take on a contract) which is likely to be a significant limiter. (OTOH the Mavs only need one taker.)

Isn't Powell the best case to move? I mean he really doesn't have a role here and he is expiring. There is at least a chance Omax or Hardy show something next year, right? Powell is just a good morale guy and someone who can fill in when his number is called. It is probably more valuable to another team though. I am sure they would move any of the three and it is probably best for Omax to try another organization, but I would much rather move Powell imo.

Their front office has been horrible - besides getting lucking in the lotto.
Saw a ranking of top front offices and they were top 5 - I don't get it at all. They are top 1 lucky, not top 5 good. They currently have the 2nd longest playoff drought in the league.

But that's also why we view them as being neutral to slightly positive in trade value while Powell would take an asset of some kind to dump

I think its more about who they could dump without spending assets than who has value to the Mavs. I think Omax is the most likely because he is a young former first round pick.

That is true. The Wizzards released the Spurs former first round pick a few weeks ago after they traded for him. I believe there was another former first round pick released a few weeks ago. I think the Spurs former first round pick had showed similar production to Omax. I guess it only takes one though.
