Against every ounce of reason at my disposal, I am still choosing to hope that this is about either Darius Garland or Donovan Mitchell.
At this point, I've seen enough smoke to think SOMETHING is close to happening. But, as we know, 90% of deals die on the two yard line, so even if it's real, there's a good chance it's not real.

Clipps always doing stuff. Nice few moves. We will see if Beal can stay healthy and if him and Collins can fit with the existing team. Although, nice summer for them. I think they got a little better to an already good team last year. They also keep flexibilitty two years out if they plan to use it. Both LA teams may be looking for the same year to have cap flexibility, I believe.
The clips only have two small problems: 1) Leonard health and 2) hoping Harden doesn't lay an egg in a big playoff moment.

Somebody needs to say it. Beal got his 25% huge salary advance yesterday. That's all this buyout was waiting on, for weeks. The next day after, he pulls the trigger on the buyout.
It's a big cash flow difference, too. IIUC -- In round numbers off the top of my head, he got a check for something like 13M yesterday. His buyout pays off the rest at about 1.2 M a month or so with the 1st payment not until Oct.

Been thinking about what could make everyone apologize to Nico (or even come close to it) and came up with the following (these would probably need to be separate trades)

My most hopeless teams moving forward....just after quick thought
1) Nets- They have picks, but two plus years after moving on from KD and Kyrie, they don't have one player I feel confident will be a core player when they are good again. I have no idea why that GM still has a job.
2) Suns- Really depressing seeing some fans talk themselves into the Suns. They have a really good player, but even that is negated with that huge extension he signed. The Suns can't really rebuild and just feel like they are just going to try to patch a hole that can't be patched. The high end is to make the play in and hope for an upset. Really bleak.
3) Toronto- Just a lot of solid players on top tier contracts. Most of these players are not desirable due to their contract. They just seem stuck in no mans land.
4) Kings- Kings just gonna Kings.
5) Pelicans- Some really talented players. I just team full of individuals looking for theirs and not a team. Plus, there is some bad juju with that team.
I have Washington and Charlotte both out of this list. Both will be bad, but I am starting to see a vision.
BTW, the Mavs would have been just outside this list (maybe even on it) if they did not win the lottery. It is amazing how that changed the franchise's future. Time will tell if they can become a contender again.

I would put Utah probably at the top of the list. Years of tanking and Kessler was their best young player up to this draft, where Ace Bailey might become better. Waiting far too long to trade their vets, which they are giving away for nothing now (Collins, Sexton, Clarkson). Paying a SRP to trade Sexton (arguably a better player) for Nurkic is perhaps most puzzling deal of the offseason, topped only by New Orleans giving up an unprotected 2026 pick (that will be very likely a very high pick) to move up to number 13 in the draft. Nurkic will be playing behind Kessler and Filipowski... Probably also already killed Markanen trade value by giving him this current deal.
Portland could also be on the list. Totally directionless. Far from even play-in, yet always competitive enough to land outside the top 5 pick.
Luck plays a large part. SA might be on this list, if they wouldn't have their lottery luck in the Wemby draft class and again this year.

I think this all just crazy talk during a downtime for the NBA. For sports in general.
I don't believe the Mavs have some big trade lined up, all the insiders and players know, but its not for public knowledge yet. I don't think it works like that.
What could they possibly be waiting on?
But all this talk of Darius Garland has me intrigued. The only downfall is that injury and how much time he'll miss to start the season.

Part of me wonders what things around the league might have been held up waiting for the Beal destination. Could part of the "Dallas trade in 48 hours" talk be about this.
For instance, GSW only has 10 players under contract right now with some FA business still to be done. If they were waiting on Beal, are they now free to proceed with Plan B? I wouldn't exactly call them loaded at C and PF.

I think main cog for GSW is Kuminga. They have 170 mil of salary for current 9 players. If they trade Kuminga without salary back, they could have access to their full MLE. If they receive (or resign him) at around 10 mil, they only have tax MLE. They are rumored for Horford, Melton and I would imagine they would both want more than vet min, which they can only do if they have access to their full MLE.
I don't think Beal was the hold up here. They only offered vet min to him. Also, it was heavily rumored for at least a week, that he is going to Clippers. It was obvious after they traded Powell, I don't think they would made that trade without knowing Beal is coming.
Beal himself was just waiting for 15th, when a large of his salary (some 13 mil or so) was scheduled to be transfered to his account.
