The trade and extend had to be Drummond. No one is paying Iggy top dollar and you can't extend with a pay cut.

Trade and extend Olynyk 3 year 30M.

Two things have to happen first.  Season has to end and Olynyk has to opt into 20/21 PO.  He could not have been the Extend and Trade at the TDL.  Those can only happen in the final season of a players contract.

If you take his entire career, an 8 season sample size, it shows that he is a remarkably sub-par 3pt shooter that had an outlier season if anything.

Again, not saying that this is the be all end all of MKG as a shooter. It isn't. He has room to grow, and has shown flashes like DFS did 3 years ago. But it will be a mountainous project to get him to be a reliable shooter in today's NBA, and cherry picking stats to build up any expectation of MKG's ability to be an offensive player certainly won't help him.

Yeah, anyone who believes MKG has untapped potential in 3PT shooting is reaching.

Forget his age for a second. This is his 8th NBA season and still hasn't figured it out. I am sure professional coaches and even Michael Jordan tried their hardest to help his jumper. MKG is a great kid too, great work ethic.

It's not rocket science. He just can't shoot, his mechanics suck, it is what it is.

And that's okay, we don't need him to be an outside shooter. Mavs have plenty of offense, we just need a slasher who can play defense. Something like Shawn Marion off the bench.

Drummond would also be possible. Too bad we will never know what numbers he declined...

To me 30 mil for 2 years of Iggy is top dollar...

0 chance it was Drummond in my mind.

Mavs are into analytics.  They're not acquiring a crappy player like Drummond because rebounds.

Exactly. We don't need a shooter. We need a tough, good defender who can clean up around the basket. Like Marion used to do.

Actually, since Miami had the same issue being unable to comes to terms with Gallo and we have heard the Mavs liked him and he fits better than Drummond...bet it was Gallo.

Deandre Jordan learned to shoot freethrows for the first time in his career with his half season on the Mavs

Hate to see teams like our rivals (the Rockets) be aggressive at the tdl and in the buyout market, can we waive lee and jackson already so we can make some upgrades?

This shot (look below) can't be fixed. It's not like other teams don't have shooting coaches. DeAndre thing was psychological, he didn't need to change his shot mechanics. Not to mention free throws are something completely different. Even if I forget what I just said - why the hell didn't the magical Mavs shooting coaches teach Powell to shoot?

I believe with enough work and coaching any shot is fixable, or in this case, recreated haha. Unless its caused by nerve damage like fultz, I think even telling him to scrap his old shot and start over could help fix it. Kind of amazes me how some people have SUCH broken shots and make it pro, like Lonzo. This video should prove the mavs are already working on it with him, and based on their previous track record, I do believe MKG will be shooting threes if he stays with us long enough to develop it.

I wonder why he's never fixed his lower arm angle

Should be an interesting story. Professional basketball player with such broken shot mechanics that no coach since start of high school was able to teach him how to shoot properly.

No Dirk. No Holger. A mad scientist might be the only thing that can fix his jumper.

Sometimes being an important contributor is less about form and more about fit. Dallas has a history of getting the most out of guys with funny shots.

Different times, different team, different star. Luka needs open driving lanes to be really effective. I doubt MKG will be used any more than in a specialist role here and there.

Should be a good chance for an offensive rebound

Powell couldn't shoot from outside, and that did nothing to hurt the offense. Wing Powell.

If RC Bobi's this guy instead of giving him pretty much all of Justin's minutes at the bare-skull minimum, I might break things.

Come on, Powell is elite rim runner...
