Recall that they were talking to Chriss well before Omicron became a thing.  It only came out when he actually came here during Omicron.  Makes me wonder if they knew they would do something like this and needed a body behind Powell and Maxi once KP was gone.

Listened to Bill Simmons 4 part podcast on the TDL recapping everything that happened. He got Rob Mahoney on to talk about the Mavs trade and he said that (and I'm paraphrasing), that a charity approached KP in September prior to this season starting to do one of those promotions where every time he gets a block he donates like $500 to some charity. 

KP declined because he said he didn't think he'd be there all season. SO I don't think either party thought this was going to remain a long term thing.

I don't think it's a surprise Luka's best stretches come in Feb before the all-star break. Basically 4 months to play himself into shape after coming in to the season out of shape.

You know what else is roughly 3-4 months after the all-star break and a period of time Luka looks otherworldly? NBA playoffs.

He is unreal. He has exceeded all of my expectations and then some. The bar is set so high that we get slightly annoyed he stat chased after he put up 45 points in 3 quarters.
