Definitely an intriguing 2nd rounder.

I think his foot speed/defense will ultimately be his downfall in the league and limit whatever success he can have. His role would be a little nebulous here as well. Does he act like a Maxi off the bench? Does he take Brunson's role as the primary initiator in the 2nd unit?
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

With Joseph, he could be our backup PG which would allow us to entertain offers for Brunson.

This must be sarcasm. I'm sure you would try to trade for that one-sided deal.  Too bad Detroit won't. KP isn't worth it, money saved or not...

One guy that I'm realy high on is Filip Petrušev, since I've been watching him all season long. He is a 6-11 center, whois realy mobile for his size, but the biggest thing is his feeling for the game and positioning. Luka would do miracles in the PnR with a guy like him. He can also hoot the ball very well(shoot 41% from 3 on 3 attempts).

I could go on and on,but long story short, I see him being at least a Zubac like player(he is faaaaar more skilled than Zubac was at the same age).

He is projected to be picked around the 40 pick. And that's just crazy... He'll end up as a huge steal if he's picked there.

Here you have some more infoabout him.

Thanks for the name.   I am not familiar with him.  Just starting to look at this draft, there appears to be a excess of big man in the late first/second round.   These guys tend to fall in the modern game now.   I think as a late pick or UDFA a few of these guys will fall. ESPN has Filip at 42.   Speaking of ESPN, I am going to put higher priority with them than anyone else.  Schmitz and Gavony to a really nice job.  I also like Wasserman, The Ringer, Vecenie and a few others, but looking back at last year, the ESPN crew had better rankings.  They are in person at so many of these camps that there database on these prospects goes back years.

I think I am still intrigued most with Jeremiah Earl (Toughness) and Murphy (3 and D) as wing prospects, but the big man may be the value picks.

I don't know if we can buy a pick and draft a second rounder an put him on the roster, but maybe as a G-League spot.   I think it would be a good message for this new front office to buy a pick and we all think, "yeah, that is a good gamble".  Sort of saying this is a new Sherriff in town and we take these late round pick seriously and think we can find a value.

Those highlights(highlights...not low lights) seem to suggest he doesnt have fumble fingers like our bigs have.

If you are going to get a guy to work in the paint on offense...please make sure he can receive a pass without fumbling it or bobbling it into the defenses hands.   You have to have coordination in your eyes, arms and hands.

I don´t even care, IF we acquire a pick, but we at least need to pretend that we want to, so teams are put on notice our approach has changed. We now value draft picks like everybody else. No more giving away picks like halloween candy.

I have noticed Sims getting some traction.  I mentioned him in my post on 6/23.   I didn't watch much college basketball this year, despite being a Baylor grad (Go Bears), but I just didn't understand why Sims was ranked in the 80-100 range in most rankings.   When I saw him, I saw a big player who was athletic.   Yeah he is older and his stats are not great, but I think there is something to work with.    UT has had a good run of athletic big man.   Sims is not near the prospect as some of the others, but is interesting.   The player I wanted to watch when I noticed Sims was Greg Brown from UT.  I see he is now being viewed as a second round pick.   It looks like he had a tough season despite all his hype, but he certainly passes the eye test.  He will need a lot of time to develop, but is the classic G-league guy and probably a prospect our previous front office would skip right over.

I do think there are several big man in this draft in the second round range.  These big man are de-valued a lot in today's game and because of this, I think there is a value there.

Thanks for this.  I was just going to ask for people's favorite "probably will not be drafted" guys are.  That's an area we end up missing the old MBT as we had pretty good success finding those diamonds in the rough.

Huh?  I don't understand how we can miss the "old MBT" already.

Isn't it too early to tell whether the Mavs will, in the future, be just as good (or perhaps even better) in this "area" as they were in the past?

Methinks the sage bovine dost misapprehend!

Seriously ...

You will have a hard time finding anyone in this group (or elsewhere) who is as "relaxed" as the happy-go-lucky ol' hogmelon.
