What does this position entail? Developing profiles on other teams players? Monitoring D-league players? Keeping up on availability of unsigned/undrafted players?

I'm not knocking NVE. I really like him when he was here and was disappointed when he was traded. Just wondering what this function is in an NBA organization. Is it a first step to other positions?
