Brooklyn can't SnT anyone as they are hugely over the hard cap. So that was certainly not a reason to bring Redick. Even if it would be possible, I think Mavs proved many times their line of thinking is extremely simplistic.

Well that's not very surprising. Probably had no other choice.
But I do find it interesting for all the talk about Mosely being such a good hire it seems like his name isn't involved for ANY head coaching position.
BOS- Udoka
DAL-Kidd
POR- Billups
IND- Carlisle
WAS- Vacant
ORL- Vacant
NOP- Vacant
Mosley hasn't even been interviewed or much less even been mentioned for any of the last 3 head coaching positions. Maybe he still gets his shot but he can't seriously think he deserved the position if not even the Wizards are interested in him.
I hope Luka isn't too upset.

They could take back JRich though.

I think if we simply promoted Finely to GM (as a lot of us feared) then Mosely probably would have been the head coach. I believe the Kidd hire was part of the Nico negotiations. That is good and bad news as it suggests Nico actually has some power to make decisions, but I'm not terribly impressed with his first decision as GM.

Hm interesting angle. Reports indicated that J-Kidd was the choice and Nico the adequate GM to go along with him though.

Kidd name was mentioned by Dirk and Finley when Cuban had meeting with them.
Doesn't seem like Nico suggestion to me, Kidd simply has too many powerful friends here

Thought I read reports saying Nico was very close with Kidd. Why wouldn’t we assume Nico is one of Kidd’s powerful friends in Dallas?

I've heard that Kidd and Finley suggested Kidd right away for sure (heard that in more than one place), and that Nico was consulted about Kidd early on in his negotiations and signed off. From there, the two were looked at as sort of a tandem. Simultaneous negotiations, kind of like a package (minus any insinuation that one wouldn't have come without the other, because we don't know THAT) which should be obvious, given how things were reported al day yesterday by Shams, Stein and others.
Quibbling over this stuff is pointless. It doesn't matter whether or not Harrison signed his contract first or not. Truly, it doesn't. There is more than enough evidence here that BOTH of these hires fit nicely into the category of "guys Cuban knows really well and is already comfortable with."
Here's a new thing I learned yesterday from Dameris that's interesting: Did you guys know that one of Harrison's first jobs with Nike (maybe his first big one) back in the day was as the Mavericks' Nike TEAM coordinator? I think Dameris said he started THAT role back in 2002. He has been hanging out in the AAC, locker room, etc, since then. Obviously, he moved up the ranks quickly and wound up running the whole Nike/NBA team.
Nothing we're arguing about right now makes a difference. It's done. At this point, either these new people will help or they won't.

Btw, another thing Dameris had to say about Kidd:
He has been trying to work here in Dallas (as an assistant) since he got fired from his last HC job. Carlisle vetoed it.
I honestly think Cuban, Dirk and Finley all wanted Kidd, and this was his job to lose all along. Now, it also seems true that Harrison was super into the idea. MAYBE that means it was a GOOD idea! Maybe this was just more clown car work from Cuban.
My point is that we can stop arguing over the process here, because at this point, we have RESULTS to argue about.

Arguing over the process? I thought we were speculating about it.

Meaning what? You want to change the conversation to an argument about whether the word argument fits in this situation?

There are multiple people suggesting Luka is happy about Kidd (for now) - I think we can accept that as fact.
About Bob...Dameris didn't say he was staying, really. He said he didn't know, but that Cuban values the kind of data he brought to the table. The way I interpreted it was that he carefully worded it to say (paraphrasing) "not sure if Bob will be back or not, but SOMEONE is going to be here in that same role." That's what I got out of it, anyway. Mix in other people with sources speculating that Bob won't be back and I'm hopeful that he won't.

Two potential Porzingis destinations. Nice.
