COVID-19: Scrimmage games | July 23 (NBATV), 26 (NBATV), 28 (FSSW) for DAL
(06-28-2020, 05:26 PM)hakeemfan Wrote: A 51 year old Caesar’s Palace employee passed away after reopening. Maybe the players being young and extremely fit will be fine. Not sure of the others though around them.  This is a huge gamble this soon especially when the cases are not really coming down much.

The big problem is that they have chosen one of the corona hot zones in all of America to resume play. Afaik the employees are currently not supposed to be living in the bubble for four months. So they´d most certainly come in contact with infected people in Orange County. I guess it can be arranged with some financial incentives, but that´s the level of commitment we are talking.

Wit the death rate always trailing the case numbers by a few weeks the total numbers will probably get worse again, even if the relative numbers won´t be as bad due to the younger age demographics in this new spike.

At least you can have a certain amount of faith in the NBA leadership, while MLB and the NFL seem a hot mess. One uses the virus as a political tool and the other other just ignores its existence.

Would have been better off coming over to Australia or New Zealand.
Basically COVID free, minor numbers in one state.
No need for a bubble, just would have had to quarantine in a hotel for 2 weeks.
Plus looks like crowds will be allowed in most states in Australia soon.

Would have been a nice boost for our economy as well ?

So a 7 pm game in Sydney would be 4 am here? (not sure if I am right on the time difference)  Otherwise I would be fine with it.

Would have to play morning games here for night time over there.
Would have been an interesting way to do the end of season.
Probably lots of reasons why they couldn’t.
Contracts, TV stuff, overseas travel restrictions.

But would have been fun for us Aussies

I won't really care that much what slogan is on a players jersey. If they do that and then stand at respectful attention for the Flag, I will be golden. I was just thinking yesterday that the NBA needs to come up with a better way to make a stand than anyone has come up with so far. I think they should keep looking for an even better idea.

No, I don't have one in mind.

Remember when we were younger and there was always a guy with crazy hair shown on TV in the stands at all sports games with a sign that simple said - 3:16

Do you think the NBA and Nike will allow a player to put that on the back of his jersey?

Of the 16 or so players who have tested positive for Covid-19, to my knowledge only two have suggested it could prevent them from playing.  Dinwiddle and DAJ.  The two Kyrie teammates.  Go figure.

The Nets are bailing early.

If they allow that, would they have to allow references to the Torah or Koran as well?

Slippery slope...

I grew up in the Soviet Union and they had these type of slogans everywhere.  I understand that people have a right to choose whatever political ideology they think is for them, but as soon as this becomes forced down the throat of the public it becomes propaganda.  I love the United States because I know how valuable freedom is.  I will not be watching the NBA despite how much I enjoy it because I cannot support propaganda.

The freedom to choose political ideology is quickly vanishing as anyone who publicly admits to thinking anything outside of progressive thought are going to be cancelled by the mob.

Projected starting 5 is Luka, KP, THJ, DFS and Curry. That leaves bench guys Maxi, Delon, Jackson, Boban, JJ, Trey, MKG and maybe the two way guys. That is trust worthy guys 7 deep plus some spot minute guys. We are a little thin and we do have only 3 big guys. Those 3 big guys have to play well or maybe DFS and or Jackson can step up and play big.

It sure is a good thing that we have 3 excellent guys to lead us and 4 6th man level guys to play the other 4 main rotation spots. Our depth is indeed less than we are used to.

I predict good friend JJ Barea steps up for one last big time spurt to help us. He may know this is it for him so why not. Our average at best bench really needs a Barea kind of spark. If someone else fills the surprising player role, that would be fine with me.

I am sorry but I will not partake in having this rammed down my throat.  It will be hard as hell too, I miss BB.  But I have a line in sand and will not allow players of any sport force politics on me.  I really love the fanbase here and will try and pop on here occasionally.  Would love to have a beer with any of you someday.

Cool.  OKC?  Any particular area?  I like it here its big enough but not too big.  Can still drive and not get stuck in massive jams.  And if you are into Mary Jane you can get a medical card easy and do your thing.  Housing is still cheap.  We have income tax but our property tax is much cheaper than Texas.  It all washes out.  Love the new Omni, Convention Center and big park downtown.

Housing is half the price of where I am currently...prefer Ardmore Hugo or other closer to the Texas border but have looked online at some in Guthrie, Tenkiller, and other areas I can't remember currently except Oklahoma panhandle so far...want it to be a smaller town or country type area if possible...trying not to be in a town with houses less than 20 feet from my house and no sizeable yard...need some elbow room since I am tired of living cramped with houses nearly touching my current...depends on me selling mine which I already have offers and getting something I want there...waiting on real estate agents to contact me today for more info on potentials I prefer out of 100 + I looked at on Zillow to see which ones I will drive to view and make offer if I like...
