Dont want him ending games but he's going to be real useful for 20 minutes a night.
Better than Jackson as a "big"

Mavs get their rim rolling big.

I have posted a lot about how much of a knucklehead WCS is and how I wouldn't invest any long term money in him. But on his 2 mil expiring deal, a guy of that caliber is a really good deal.

Lets hope he doesn't clash with RC, and he is a fantastic rim roller for the Mavs.

I'm gonna wait and see what the Mavs gave up to judge this trade though. Cash considerations and a top 55 2nd?? Home run deal. Utah 2nd? Stomachable. Anything more and I'll be disappointed.

Okay. Thats great if thats all it is.

Utah 2nd had some value, but its shaping up to be a low 50s pick. Its currently at 57.

So the Mavs essentially got WCS for the 57th pick. Savvy savvy move from Donnie.

#57 according to tankathon right now. Solid deal.

I actually kinda wanted WCS last summer for the minimum. Never saw the need to throw that huge and premature extension at Powell but whatever.

There goes one of our tool assets in the Utah 2nd - but this is a good trade. WCS isn't good, but he's better than some schlep off the street.

I think this is a really good move and a great recovery by Donnie. It didn't cost us much and he can play as long as he doesn't piss Rick off.

Gross. At least we didn't use the GSW 2nd.

Good move. Roby and Utah second for a cheap and useful center. We have now three 7 footers!

It´s Cuban. Let´s hope it´s not more. Angel

Btw awesome pick that Roby at #37. Daniel Gafford went #38 (+21 NRTG per 100 poss on the Bulls). GSW´s own Eric Paschall went #40.

Not that I disagree that Roby looked like a scrub in  Summer League, 14 days after they evaluated him to be an NBA talent.

I seriously like to know whether our scouts are this bad, or they literally draft late 1st and 2nd round guys based on who shows the least desire to actually play in the NBA, hence the lowest annoyance level.

Cuban: So Mr. Draymond what are your ambitions for the future.
Draymond: I want to be the nastiest defensive player on the planet.
Cuban: Maybe car salesman in Florida?
Draymond: No sir, I want to play in the NBA and be a star.
Cuban: Thank You, for your time. *scratches him off the list*

LOVE this.

WCS is +3.9 on the defensive end this year with GSW and was a plus with SAC as well.

He is middle of the road as a roll-man (56 percentile this year, 62.5% last year), but has he ever played with a maestro like Luka??

Casey Smith: Powell is done for the year and Boban can't play heavy minutes night after night.

Donnie make a phone call.

Donnie: Hey Warriors since you are tanking how about our Utah 2nd for WCS.

1 hour later...

Donnie: Roby is a great prospect and you save money doing this.

Honestly that was my initial reaction to this trade (in bold), but when I realized the Utah pick is at 57, and more than likely staying int he mid 50s for the rest of the year, the Mavs got a pretty solid backup on a very cheap contract for one of the lowest picks in the draft. Just looking at this trade talent wise, the Mavs seemed to have fleeced the Warriors.

But obviously WCS biggest faults don't lie with his talent. My biggest fear is that he doesn't mix well with RC, ala Nerlens. WCS has just a low BBIQ as Nerlens did. Thankfully this is about as low risk as it gets deal-wise. Hopefully he puts it together here and becomes our next Brandan Wright.
