BREAKING: Free agent Klay Thompson plans to join the Dallas Mavericks on a three-year, $50M deal with a player option, sources tell ESPN. Thompson ends his historic Warriors run as part of a multi-team sign-and-trade that’ll also send Josh Green to Charlotte.

Charolette wanted Green in the PJ deal. They finally get their guy. Mavs turned Tim (16m) into Klay Thompson. Wow!

I hope they at least extracted some 2nds from Charlotte. Josh isn't exactly a cash dump type player.

[Wojnarowski]Thompson had four-year offers for more money, but taking less was offset by the chance to win a fifth championship with the Mavs and difference in state taxes. Agent Greg Lawrence of @wassbasketball led Thompson in serious talks with Mavs and Lakers, among others.

The Hornets are sending out second-round draft capital included in the deal to acquire Josh Green, per league source.

Charlotte swoops in to help facilitate Klay Thompson to the Mavericks and receive a very promising high upside wing prospect.

Asleep at the wheel Donnie would've let this thing drag out and fall through.

What a difference a good gm makes even if I'm not crazy about Klay.

Waiting made us nervous but this is how you imho proffessionally execute a deal. Now lets hope it will work on the court

[Fischer] The sign-and-trade framework that will ultimately send Klay Thompson to Dallas has a completed concept that would send Josh Green to Charlotte, sources said, but what goes back to the Warriors has not yet been finalized. Three years, $50 million was most Mavericks could offer.

Shams and Woj both say it is done, so I'm going to go with that.

[Slater] The Warriors haven't agreed to any Klay Thompson sign-and-trade to Dallas at this point, per sources. Could still happen, but negotiation/finalization would still be needed.

It's gonna happen but I bet Golden State will try to get something else from us.

[Smith] (On Klay trade) A sign-and-trade has to be three years, before an option year. Something is awry here...

good point. Woj reported 3rd year as player option. that cant be right

Makes sense...Klay wants his starting spot and plenty of shots. He knows the Mavs were the best fit because he will get all of the same opportunities that THJ got
