I personally think FA went really well, so I don't see the Mavs as "victims" really. My biggest complaint from the off season was sitting out of all the trades....though of course I don't know what was really available.

But regardless I am super excited about this and just hope the NBA has the teeth to actually enforce it. Someone will probably have to be made an example of....

One thing I don't understand. It was evident from space that there was tampering going on all over before the start of free agency. Something like 100 deals were agreed way before June 30th opening. And no one was really hiding it. This was already against the rules, however no penalties were given.

So how exactly are higher penalties solving anything?

I worded it wrong...my bad...I was trying to say the. Mavs got bashed for not executing their original plan of getting the 3rd star and other rumors that were floating around...instead I have seen and heard complaints the Mavs once again screwed up by only getting Wright and Curry...

Mavs did solid this offseason...

Much of this summer was about Kemba to Dallas in Mavsland, in hindsight Dallas had a shot if Boston didn't lose Horford.

What is funny to me is Boston/Ainge screaming tampering with Horford and then working out Kemba's deal via tampering, prior to the start of FA.   Dodgy

I am over Kemba and fine with our current guys but it didn't seem fair at the time and clearly wasn't.

Good. Im excited.

I cannot wait till a big name contract gets voided because the team is found to be tampering.

How great would it be if Kawhi's contract was voided and he was unable to sign with the Clips, and the Clips get hammered with an atonement of draft picks as well, ala a Joe Smith situation.

I'll have to listen to that podcast later, the tampering in the NBA is out of control, I'm really not sure what they can do about it in a digital age
"And Peja with the dagger."-balldontliez on 11/15/10 when Peja hit a 3 to put the hornets up 84-75 with 9 MIN LEFT!  Guess who won the game?  That's right, the mavericks." -msu15

I feel like doubling down on even more tampering rules instead of abolishing them is essentially just forcing the tamperers to even further refine and hone their tampering skills to the point where it still occurs while also being virtually undetectable but its an interesting strategy, let’s see how it plays out.

Ultimately, I guess if tampering continues to exist but truly becomes undetectable to the point where people aren’t even suspicious about it anymore, then the NBA will consider the ‘problem’ solved. The ‘appearance’ of misdoing and unfairness is probably a larger problem for the NBA than the actual doings themselves.

Please let us know what we're supposed to hide before you come to find it. We don't want to work too hard at hiding all our misdeeds.

Soooo, you can tamper, as long as you do it on your phone and/or computer, because, that's not how business is done. We're really serious about cracking down on this stuff though, you guys...look! We open a hotline so you can either turn yourselves in, or if you do our work for us, you can call it in and it becomes she said she said and we'll do nothing about that too!

According to Pete Thamel, Seerat Sohi and Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports on Tuesday, an NBA memo sent to teams said they are not permitted to use apps that "auto-delete relevant communication."

Mavs did solid this offseason...

I would consider the Mavs' offseason to be... incomplete. I was not aware that they still had a good chunk of the Barnes trade exception. I thought that all went away when they used any of their cap room to sign FAs. Evidently not. I thought their big error, short of convincing someone like Kemba to come here (I'll bet that if they knew how good Luka was going to be this year that more of the top guys would have considered us), was the failure to use the rest of their cap room to sign another player of that Curry/Wright/Boban tier who could have helped us. The Mavs still don't have a competent starting wing, for example, as many have pointed out, and we could use a fifth big who is more of a lay-the-lumber type a la Favors to supplement KP, Maxi, Powell, and Bobi. If the Mavs make good use of the trade exception, which we all presumed was gone, then the offseason, including the great bargain contracts for Maxi and Dodo, becomes an A, and would have been an A+ if we hadn't overpaid Powell in retaining him. Powell is a useful piece for the Mavs, but has negative trade value at that contract price.

Players gonna go where they want to go.  It can happen fast or slow but the players are in control. They have the power, as they should. This stuff about tampering is mostly sour grapes.

Kinda sad that Cuban’s “Dust” app didn’t even seem to be worth mentioning in the story, lol.
