Sometimes the simplest answer might be the right one.

Dumb (Kidd)  + Arrogant (Cuban) = Deadly combination

It is of course possible. But a message was already sent in the past to everyone who didn't understand the unwritten rule to this very same organization. I find it unlikely that Kidd is that dumb.

Kidd had foot in mouth syndrome in his playing career. The most talkative person that shouldn’t be talkative.

Not feeling good about today.  SA going all out (who is left?).  Dallas 4.5 point favorite.  Chicago is 8.5 point favorite (go Bulls).  Utah is a 16.5 point dog.  Only saving grace is we will know the Chicago outcome early in our game.  Bulls win and we are #10 in lottery odds without a coin flip even if/when we beat SA.

OKC could still lose, puting us in the coin flip again. They are resting their whole team as Memphis is.

It's actually sad and hilarious that the collective discussion here is several orders of magnitude more creative and more well thought out than anything the Mavs have done for the last 11 years.

Another important game is Houston versus Washington - if Houston manages to lose this game they secure the 2nd place in the lottery and San Antonio has no more incentive to  tank against us.

We would have to become immediate OKC fans and root for them to make the playoffs - then they won‘t take part in the lottery no matter their record.

1 "Not feeling good about today.  SA going all out (who is left?).  Dallas 4.5 point favorite."

Mavs will look for a tank commander who can give them a lot of minutes. This is a different kind of coaching challenge, but Mavs do badly need to lose this game.

2 "Bulls win and we are #10 in lottery odds without a coin flip even if/when we beat SA."

Nope. If OKC loses and Mavs win, it's coin flip time. CHI has the same opportunity as OKC to move into a tie (although their results will be know before Mavs play).

I would wager HOU will "manage to lose." Accidentally, of course! ~wink wink~

But it has nothing to do with the lottery, where HOU/SA are guaranteed to have identical odds. (There's no diff between 2 and 3).

Instead, it has to do with 2nd Rd pick. HOU/SA are currently tied for pick 32 or 33. HOU sends it to BOS if they finish w 33, and keeps pick if they finish w 32 (with no further obligation to BOS). If they tie in the standings, coin flip settles it.

For Mavs perspective, even if HOU loses, SA can also lose, then win coin flip and get pick 32 (not 33).

Been saying it for the last few years. If you don´t think you could have done a better job than the MBT over the past decade, you need to see a shrink, because you suffer from low self-esteem. It´s been that bad. You obviously hear fans talk like that often, but in the case of our management, it´s really true.

The last three days have been unreal. Can you imagine if LeBron played for the Mavs and went for his annual "two week revitalisation" vacation in Florida. He´s end up in jail for a felony with Cuban as his owner and Kidd as his coach.

McMahon: When do you expect LeBron back?
Kidd: No rush it takes 3-4 weeks for the steroids from Germany to be fully operational in the body.
Cuban: He´s joking. Lebron had an adverse reaction to his blood transfusions.
Kidd: That, too. I was getting to the bad blood.

Detroit has no incentive to win. They're firmly in the Wemby sweepstakes. Chicago wins without even trying.

DET position can't possibly change, win or lose. They might want to win for self-esteem purposes. CHI does have incentive to lose, if it gets them better picks in both rounds.

This is not going to endear him to his current bosses. Similar to Flores in the NFL no owner would hire a guy who in the future leaks any confidential tanking plans. So you can’t even say that he is trying to send a message to some future prospective employer that this is not his mess.

Either way he comes across as a rat who snitched here. Other than him either burning the place down because he knows he is getting fired sooner or later or is reconciled never to coach in the NBA again and wants to accelerate that firing or is just plain dumb, there are no other choices here.

Well technically it matter, cause the lower you finish, the further you can be pushed back. 2nd seed picks 6th with a 20% probability. 3rd seed picks 6th or 7th with a 33% probability. These dumb*** Rockets screwed us with their B2B wins. They lose out, Spurs have nothing to play for tonight.

There‘s no difference in the odds for a Top 4 pick, right - but the draft order if a couple of teams were to jump them in the lottery depends on the draft order, right? So if they end up with the same record it will be decided by coin flip as well I think, who would pick 5th and who would pick 6th.

Difficult game tonight, I have no idea how we will be able to lose against the tank masters from San Antonio.

Edit: Mavs2021 brought up the same argument a couple seconds earlier in the last post. Thanks for nothing, Rockets!

There is a third option. Mavs openly challenging the league with the "I dare you" because they think they are cool. Exactly same way it happened the first time with Cuban.

Good point!

So HOU/SA have two reasons to tank.
