For sure, and I can see them moving either Bog or Heurter, but why would they move Capela now without a replacement?

We don’t have the assets for Collins. Washed up Gallo might be an option after a buyout though.

I’ve read Okongwu is ready to take that next step. They don’t really have a backup to him though. That’s where Powell comes into play.

I would argue very strongly DAL does indeed have the assets for Collins. It is just a matter of whether they think it is worth what it would take.

Well, I've read that they were (still might be) hot and heavy on the idea of Ayton. That's germane, to me, in that he's much more of a Capela type than an Oknongwu type, play style wise.

I think Capela is great and would love him here, don't get me wrong.

Rumor has it that ATL has been wanting to make Okongwu their starting center for a good minute now. Capela has been in the way of that.

Some tweets regarding it:

https://soaringdownsouth.com/2022/06/26/...nta-hawks/

And many more. Capela had a down year for the Hawks and they preferred to run with Okongwu anyways. Bogi has shown in the past that he can distribute the ball in spot minutes. I'd qualify him as a solid option to replace Brunson.

Capela is the perfect big in theory for Wood to play off of and also has a salary that isn't a 40 mil balloon that we'd feel bad about if we had to bench should things go awry.

Only trouble is what does the Mavs have that ATL would want. Both Bogi+Capela's trade value isn't very high. Many Hawks fans want the team to get rid of them. I'd say they view them the same way we view Powell and THJ, and for roughly the same reasons.

Funnily enough THJ+Powell is the exact dollar amount to get those two guys too.

A 25 year old who averaged 21 8 and 9 and led the league in steals was going to be expensive. Atlanta going all in for Trae. Which one of them is going to play off the ball though? Trae's the better shooter so that would probably make sense

I love it for ATL. They got much better.

Trae Young is obviously running the show still but Murray is a great secondary ball handler that he really needed, and he plays defense. The Collins equation got real interesting, ATL can still add a lot more once he's traded.

I am looking forward to Trae+Murray's Hawks vs Brunson's Knicks. Trae always stomps on the Knicks, lets see if Brunson can do anything about it.
