“Luka [Doncic] is one of the best players in the world when the ball is in his hands. It's a pleasure to be on the recipient end of that. He’s gonna generate a ton of great looks for me. On the flip side, it was a nightmare trying to guard him and Kyrie [Irving]. Its really exciting to be apart of something special here."

I liked everything about his game last year.  We got better defense than was advertised.  We got some toughness.  We got some size with skill.  We got a guy who is still pretty young and should be entering his prime.

The streaky shooting was the only drawback.  When he was consistent, he was awesome here.  It is tough to jump to a new team mid year.  I hope him figuring out where he will get shots and with added reps that percentage comes up a few points.

Wasn't there some talk about DAL re-working PJ's shot mechanics during last season? Maybe there's improvement coming from time and energy invested by PJ and the staff.

Hey, everything is sunshine and blue birds right now.

Maybe it's just me, but I like how Klay practices the double clutch shot. Instead of just catch and shoot, he moves as if avoiding a defender.

And still makes the shot...

So maybe we should start watching Cooper Flagg games? Smile

The Mavericks say Luka Dončić sustained a hit during workouts this week resulting in a left calf contusion and will be re-evaluated in one week.

@TheSteinLine
The hit that caused the calf injury, league sources tell @TheSteinLine, occurred in a weekend workout in Dallas before the Mavericks arrived in Las Vegas for training camp.

The Mavericks say Dončić will miss at least one week.

@espn_macmahon
Sources say there is no concern about Luka Doncic being ready for the Mavs’ regular-season opener.

Never hurts to have former coaches helping out.

Former Suns coach Frank Vogel is "part of our coaching staff" as a coaching consultant, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd says.

"It took a lot of begging," Kidd joked, "but he was talked into it and I'm happy he said yes."

In all the clips I‘ve seen from him he’s automatic, no matter the fake or double clutch he adds. I‘m really surprised when he does miss a shot, because it happens so rarely. Will be fascinating to have him as a sniper this season.

I think this should be bigger news.

Mavs have Frank Vogel now on the bench??

Not sure if it‘s not more of a back office role as a coaching consultant?
But it‘s great to add another brilliant mind to the staff and not get complacent after last year‘s success.

Huge news for us who question Kidd's offensive X's and O's.

Listening to Kidd's answer in his interview, he did say Vogel was now apart of his staff, but as a consultant.

I really would hope he's on the bench as a lead assistant type of guy. Probably not though.

Being a "consultant" instead of a contracted "assistant", probably makes it easy for Vogel to leave if/when another head coaching position opens up.

And keeps the hierarchy intact - I guess Sweeney and Dudley want to become head coaches in the near future. So a step backwards wouldn’t sit too well with them. And by being a consultant the hierarchy between Vogel and Kidd doesn’t get turned around completely with Kidd being Vogel‘s assistant in LA to Vogel becoming Kidd‘s assistant here.

Frank's not hurting for $$. He was only one year into a 5 year deal with PHX worth $31MM.

Does PHX get any sort of offset if he gets hired for a coaching position?
