When I see that, I see a guy whose upside is Powell. Or another J Green. And that would make sense, because that seems to be their persistent criteria in trying to identify players. But that's not what I want.
I think their criteria is wrong.
My personal sense of things is that they need to be looking for guys with basketball skills, not "effort" (as the primary plus).
I get your point, and it's not a bad one, but I believe his combination of size (WAY LONGER than OG, to my eye) and athletic quickness puts him levels above both Powell and Green. And even better, his defensive killer instinct is (in my cautious, hopeful opinion) way better than either of those guys, too. I believe he has the potential to be the single most disruptive defender in the NBA. Definitely not a given, I get that. Neither of the guys you mention ever had that potential. He could fall significantly short of that mark and still be more impactful than either of those guys, imo.
