I love his point about using Luka and Kyrie screening and handing the ball off at the same time. Defenses will scramble to cover both, but both Luka and Kyrie can beat individual defense, so they'd have to commit to one side and by then it's bbq chicken.
Getting Luka downhill also seems to be the key. He's slower and needs to windup to explode like that. I think a good play would be to put Luka in the corner and have Kyrie come down and run a zipper fist screen play to get him downhill.
Something like this.
It also is a good trick play because it mimics Horns which is a pet action that Kidd likes to run. This gives Kyrie the ability to float from the corner up to the top of key after Luka catches it and attacks as well.
Zach Lowe has been saying the Luka and Kyrie pick and role with each other should be our key play when it matters. He said Kyrie has done this in the past (can't remember if it was with Lebron or KD).
Watching those highlights, two plays stuck out at me. One was against Sacramento late in the game. Luka was posting up and passed back out to Kyrie who then threw the ball back to Luka. Luka again made the defense collapse which led to a wide open three attempt by Kyrie. Mavs were up by 3. If that goes in, we are up 6 late in the game. It could have been the difference. There were other plays that impacted the final score too.
The second play was a beautiful touch pass to Bullock on the left wing by Kyrie. It was such a beautiful and simple pass that led to an open corner three.
