I think he has big plans for C Wood.
I would venture Wood and McGee are both talent elevations that offer an even wider array of offensive options. I'm thinking McGee has the size to compete better in the paint, especially against some of the other big men. Wood (I hope) is going to be a threat from the 3pt line all the way to the rim, sort of a bigger version of DFS.
I think Kidd made a similar comment a year ago, about wanting to not live and die by 3pters. And it did seem to get better for a while, but the donut hole at our 5 position started betraying use in the playoffs. Luka, Brunson and SD were able to exploit UTA and PHX big men, but GSW's ability to play small with force was too much to overcome. My anticipation is that Wood allows for more effective 5-out/small ball play while McGee is able to keep bigger opposition lineups honest.
While matchups often drive lineups, I'm hoping DAL develops a chemistry that makes the other team match up to us rather than the opposite. If that happens, look out.
