They went 4-1 if I'm not mistaken

Omax looks great.  I hope I'm wrong about his not being an NBA player.

Ashamed to ask, but which one is OMax? Is he wearing the dark shirt with a white "T" on it?

Kudos to Lively - he understands priorities. So many big men (and fans) don't get this right, and think the ability for a C to make 3s should be their focus. That's so wrong. I think Wemby is in great danger of falling into this trap (if he hasn't done so already).

Yes so glad this is the plan.  As opposed to a guy like Mo Bamba who seemed to want to show everyone he could be average shooting a three.  Lively 3 will probably come in time but no need to rush it with this team now.  I understand the whole spread floor thing but for this team with Luka, an elite rim runner puts way more stress on a defense than him sitting in the corner.

How he can take advantage of smaller players will be huge in his development.  No one posts any more and I don’t think we will see many Lively post ups.  But how can he take advantage when teams put a Jayson Tatum or another forward on him.  Can he make it really tough for these wings to deal with him inside?  If he can, you really make it tough for defenses.

Excellent point. Luka having high performing PnR partner(s) creates more gravity and, in theory, opens up the perimeter shots even more. Having someone like DLive who can make distributions off the roll makes this offense even more potential.

Man I know these are only pickup videos against guys way worse but I really hope OMax is ready to take the mantle for 2nd PF off the bench and pushing Maxi into break in case of emergency.

That lets Maxi go into the playoffs hopefully fresh and it means we have yet another long defender on the roster.

I really want OMax to succeed.

Same team as Klay. Black shirt with white letters that say "Why Not" and blue shorts.

He certainly looked better than DJJ did in that pickup game, I'll say that.

Says something that our 34y/o major signing is spending his summer playing pick up games against younger, more athletic talent. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like he has a point to prove to GSW that they were wrong to not invest in him for the end of his career. What better way than to take home another Larry with DAL?

Minutes will be tough for Omax to get. He didn’t look ready in summer league but it is tough to base much of anything on summer league.

Earlier in the summer, Zach Lowe said on his podcast that he thought OMax would get a chance this year. This was a few weeks after he spent time with the Mavs front office at the finals. I believe this was before all the summer moves though.

When he gets chances, he needs to take advantage of them and make it so they need to play him.

I think I saw a highlight of Jaden on his Instagram and it looks like he has a new hairstyle. So that is interesting.

I hope OMax turns into the amazing value that everyone was gushing about when the Mavs drafted him. It was exciting to hear they had a steal.

But I'm really doubtful, since every time I've seen him play he's just worthless. I keep waiting to see him do things that would translate into ways to be a plus in the NBA, and I never see any.

I'm in the same spot.  I just don't see him developing into a player contributing within an 8-man NBA rotation.

He looked pretty good in the last 2 games against DET and OKC to end the season where the Mavs just decided to rest everyone. 16ppg and 7rpg on 42/40 splits.

Regarding things that are a "plus" in the NBA, do you not think his defense is good enough?

And looked good in G-League. 42% from 3.

I ignore garbage time - even when it's the whole game . And no, I haven't seen anything all that special in his defense.

Some pretty sweet Mavs news with Tatum predicting a finals rematch and KD putting 2 Mavs in his best five alongside him, LeBron and Embiid:

That's pretty significant no?

I mean he could've named Booker to that 2-guard spot pretty easily but he said Klay.

In fact, given that Kyrie is here too, is it too crazy to think that if PHX crashes and burns that Durant might force his way here?

No realistic shot given the contract situation but a guy could dream...

First of all both these tidbits show that we earned a lot of respect and appreciation with our run to the Finals AND with the additions afterwards. Not necessarily from media guys, but from some of the best players in the league, which counts much more in my opinion.

Concerning KD‘s Top 5 - I think he maneuvered himself in that spot by starting with Luka as his point guard and adding himself and LeBron. He then chose Embiid because he shoots the three better than Jokic and wanted the best shooter with size that he could imagine to stretch the floor and take advantage of all the open shots - and therefore came up with Klay as his forward.

So he didn’t necessarily form a team of the 5 best individual players, but tried to build the most unbeatable team. I like that a lot, because we can transfer his chain of thoughts to our team with Klay next to Luka and Kyrie, can‘t we?
